幼なじみの恋人ジョシュとティファニーは、大学進学を境にニューヨークとテキサスに離ればなれとなってしまう。そんな2人はビデオ・レターを定期的に交換することで互いの愛を確かめ合っていた。ところがある日、ジョシュは同級生ベスと浮気をしてしまう。しかも、その時ベスがいたずらで撮っていたビデオをいつものビデオ・レターと間違えてテファニーに送ってしまうのだった。ジョシュは、彼女がビデオを見る前に取り返すべく、悪友3人と一緒にテキサスまで1800キロのロード・トリップに出るのだったが…。
