クリスマス・イヴの夜。ハリントン一家は、毎年恒例のクリスマス・パーティに出席するため、おばあちゃんの家へと向かっていた。２０年以上も同じ道を通ってきたフランクだったが、この日彼は、なんとも魅惑的な近道を発見し、ひとけのないその道に車を進めた。ところが、どうしたことか行けども行けども目的地にたどり着かず、道はどんどん暗く薄気味悪くなっていった。やがて一家は、赤ん坊を抱え道端にたたずむ白いドレスの女と遭遇する。それを境に、一家の不吉な予感はいよいよ現実のものとなっていく。
