ここニューヨーク動物園の人気者はライオンの親子「サムソン」と「ライアン」。武勇伝が自慢の勇敢な父にコンプレックスを抱く息子の、父へのちょっとした反抗が、ある日大事件に!ライアンは、危険とは無縁の動物園を出て、ワイルドな野生世界で暮らせば自分も勇敢になれると思い「緑の箱」(トラックに積まれたコンテナ)に乗って外の世界に行こうとサムソンを困らせる。ある日、「緑の箱」に入り込んだライアン。しかし、鍵がかかってトラックは動きだしてしまう!!サムソンは必死に追いかけるが金網にはばまれ、トラックは夜の街へと消えて行く・・・。サムソンと一致団結してライアンを探そうと決断する動物園の仲間たち。こうして彼らの動物園からニューヨークの街へ、そして未知なるジャングルへと続くライアン救出の旅がはじまった。果たして、サムソンと仲間たちの運命は・・・そして、ライアンを無事救うことができるのか!?
