A mysterious woman, known as Madame M, kidnaps forty pre-teen girls and transports them to a remote island to train them as the most deadly assassins. He was supposed to pick up his visiting girlfriend Gigi Lai, but instead he gets stuck in a hotel where a Category 3 film is being filmed. There he strikes up a quick connection with the leading lady, who offers him a role in a graphic love scene with her. Meanwhile, Gigi has arrived in HK only to find herself alone with no one to turn to. Depressed and despondent, she takes comfort in the attentions of a lonely older man played by Patrick Tse Yin. The third and most interesting affair occurs between taxi driver Ben Ng and mainland hustler Wong Hei. The two hook up outside the train station and fight and fume in between steamy couplings.

The once happily married couple turned adversaries when husband Alex comes home and informs his wife Bo Bo that he is leaving her for another woman. Furthermore, he gained custody of their only daughter. The series of incidents drives Bo Bo into a deep depression and she arrives at Alex's house-warming party uninvited. Doom draws near as the story comes to a startling conclusion.

Director Alfred Cheung (Her Fatal Ways) skewers contemporary Hong Kong in the hilarious satire The Extra! Alfred Cheung stars as an unemployed film extra who considers employment in a bawdy Category III film to make ends meet. The truth is he'd rather not participate in something so sordid, but with the Asian Financial Crisis casting a threatening shadow over 1998 Hong Kong, a guy has to do what's necessary just to survive! Plus it makes time for laughs, and features a galaxy of familiar Hong Kong Cinema names, including Christine Ng, Simon Lui, Law Ka Ying, Almen Wong Pui Ha, and Francis Ng.

Father Martin has raised many orphans at a Hong Kong Orphanage. After growing up, some have achieved great success; with one becoming a gangster, much to his disappointment. During a starvation relief mission in Somalia, Father Martin is killed. In order to repay their beloved Father, they vow to follow in his footsteps by helping the poor, as well as protecting the weak from gangster harassment. Thus is born, 'The Group': professionals who are sworn to do good deeds - and they will break the law to do so.

Cat (Almen Wong) is a professional killer falling in love with John, a police investigator (Michael Wong). John feels torn between his job, his ex-wife and child, and Cat of course.

Father Lee (Sean Lau) is young and unconventional. He fell into temptation and was sued by Donna (Almen Wong), who accuses him of rape. Lee faces a lawsuit and abandonment by his church and his followers. Gangster Mr. Gum (Eric Tsang) is willing to help and has hired Ku (Carman Lee) as his defending lawyer. Mr. Gum believes in silence by violence, while Ku would rather try false witnesses. But Lee refuses to attack Donna in court for fear of hurting her again. In the end, Lee proved to Mr. Gum and Ku that conscience does in fact exist in this corrupt world ruled by power and material desire.

Gangsters abound in this lively, romantic crime drama that is set in Shanghai during WW II. The tale of Taiwanese patriot Hsu Wen-Chiang begins as he is washed up on a beach near Shanghai. He is taken in by Ting Lik, a kindly beggar who is desperately in love with Feng Ching-Ching, the daughter of a prominent gangster. It isn't long before Ting Lik successfully rises through the underworld ranks to become one of the city's most powerful gangsters. Hsu is beside him all the way and uses his own power to get revenge against those who tried to have him killed much earlier. The film's later focus is on the exploits of Feng who long ago had a relationship with Hsu when he was on the lam in northern China. Back in the present, Hsu and Feng meet again by chance and they resume their affair until Hsu learns that Feng's father is one of his enemies and kills him. Poor Feng goes mad with grief. Ting finds out and swears revenge upon Hsu.

Ex-Category 3 starlet Veronica Yip is a young doctor who’s suffering psychological trauma after being raped. She has an understanding boyfriend and best friend, but the pressure of her sexual frigidity gets to them and she finds them in extra-curricular activity. Due to her shame and alienation, she neglects a bloodied patient (Simon Yam) who arrives at the ER. She’s punished by her superiors whereupon she quits to rest in Macau. Then guess who shows up: Simon Yam, who’s become “special” thanks to his head trauma.
