Her life seems to have a firm grip on the single mother - if it were not for this writer's block that prevents her from completing her new romance novel. To make matters worse, her childhood sweetheart Vincent emerges completely unexpectedly. Vincent, Rosa's son, left her 15 years ago overnight. She has never heard from him since. Therefore, she tries to keep secret from him that she connects far more than a broken love ...

実業家が愛人宅の浴槽で惨殺された。現場から逃げていく不審な人物が目撃されており、その男の自宅からは狙撃用の的とライフルの薬莢が発見されていた。そして男が１０年前にその実業家の元で働いていた事、同じ頃男の妻が精神障害に陥っている事、その妻が先日事故死している事などが判る。ベックは愛人マリアから男と実業家の関係を聞き出すが、そこには１０年前に製作されたポルノ映画の存在があった。そしてその映画に関わっていた最後の人物は、今では人気歌手となっており、ストックホルム・マラソンに出場するところであった……。原作は『テロリスト』。

田舎町の遊園地内で女性の死体が発見される。その女性の隣に住む前科者が容疑者としてみなされるが、彼は旧知のベックにだけ真実を話すと告げ黙秘を続ける。到着したベック、コルベリ、ラーソンらは、被害者と付き合っていた謎の男の存在を突き止めた。一方、目撃者の証言によって、あの夜、遊園地から車を盗んで逃走した若い二人組の存在が浮かび上がる。彼らが女性を殺した犯人なのか？　捜査網が狭まる中、警官によって撃たれてしまう二人組。女は死に、男の行方は不明。そしてベックは女性と恋仲だった謎の人物“カイ”の正体に気づく……。

麻薬密売人の見張りをしていたベニーたちの目の前で売人の住むアパートが爆発炎上。それは巧妙に仕掛けられた爆弾によるものだった。コルベリたちの捜査は売人たちを徹底的に締め上げるが効を奏せず、ベックは麻薬ルートを追ってデンマークに飛ぶ。そして殺された売人の知人である女彫刻家の証言で黒幕の正体が判明した。その人物がストックホルムに行く事を知ったベックは飛行機に同乗し機会を窺う。空港に急行するコルベリとベニー、そしてそこには休暇を命じられマイアミに向かおうとしていたラーソンの姿もあった……。
