Rachel, a concerned researcher, and her team have set out to sea to prove that the disappearance of a family and crew from a merchant ship was for reasons having to do with the supernatural. Her theory that those on the Mary Celeste vanished into a "rift" between dimensions proves true as the boat breaks down and her crew begins to vanish one by one.

Avery, a reclusive older man, has a best friend in his dog, Red. When three teens kill Red without reason, Avery sets out for justice and redemption, attempting to follow the letter of the law. But when the law fails him, and the boys' father clearly defines right and wrong in his own way, Avery must avenge himself by any means possible.

カリフォルニア郊外の高校に通うブレンダンは、元恋人のエミリーから電話を受ける。彼女は意味不明の言葉を残したまま電話を切り、ブレンダンはエミリーのことが気がかりに。その数日後、彼は排水溝で無残に横たわる彼女の遺体を発見してしまう。悔いの残るブレンダンはエミリーの死の真相を探るため、彼女の残した謎の言葉を頼りに調査を開始。やがて彼は、学園内に渦巻くドラッグ汚染という闇の世界へ導かれてゆく。
