O-Shin is a young brothel worker who, one night, helps a young samurai escape from his pursuers. Against the warnings of her fellow workers, particularly Kikuno and the brothel's owner, O-Shin falls in love with the samurai.

享保の時代。浪人の三沢伊兵衛とその妻は、長雨のため安宿に居を構えた。ある日、若侍の諍いを難なく仲裁した三沢は、通りかかった藩主・永井和泉守に見そめられ城に招かれる。三沢が剣豪であることを知った和泉守は、彼を藩の剣術指南番に迎えようとする。

個性派作家・内田百閒の随筆を原案に、百閒の日常と彼の教師時代の教え子との交流を描く。 昭和18年の春。先生は生徒たちに、作家活動に専念するために学校を去ることを告げるが、退職後引っ越した家にも門下生たちは遊びにやってくる。

黒澤明監督が村田喜代子の原作を基に、かつて原爆を体験した祖母の許を訪れた4人の孫が体験するひと夏の出来事を描き、反核を訴える感動ドラマ。夏休み。長崎から少し離れた山村に住む老婆・鉦の許に4人の孫たちがやってきた。都会の生活に慣れた孫たちは田舎の生活に退屈を覚えながらも、長崎の街にある戦争の傷跡や鉦が話す昔話を聞いて、戦争に対する考えを深めていく。
