An All-Star reading of the original stage play version of Sordid Lives! A family in a small Texas town is preparing for a funeral. Among the characters are the grandson trying to find his identity in West Hollywood, the son who has spent the past twenty-three years dressed as Tammy Wynette, the sister and her best friend (who live in delightfully kitschy homes), and the two daughters, one strait-laced and one a bit looser.

Patient introduces us two brothers, Jode and Sean Wildman, who are polar opposites. Jode, the impatient brother, will occasionally do things like take a crowbar and a hammer to the trunk of his car in search of his lost keys. Sean, the level-headed, anal brother, would never think iron his socks simply because he gets them dry-cleaned.

A failing television station is bought out by a slick TV evangelist and starts making mountains of money in the guise of religious programming, which is actually just an excuse to sell merchandise.

Laurie has been in show business since she was a child. Her dream is to be a singer, songwriter and actress. Her father wants her to be a comedian like him and Laurie only tries because it pleases her father. But she is a lousy comedian. She auditions for everything and is engaged to Ken, but Ken does not understand her needs. She has a one night stand with Chris, only to later find that he is a director. She has many emotions that have not yet been addressed and she must face them before she can get on with her life.
