In God We Trust, Inc.: The Lost Tapes is VHS/DVD of the Dead Kennedys' first recording session of their EP, In God We Trust Inc.. It was released in July 2003. The session was filmed in June 1981 by Eric Goodfield for a part of a punk documentary he was making. When the DKs went to master the tape it started to peel and deteriorate, so they had to record it again (that session took place in August and was used for the EP). The tape was in Goodfield's collection until the DKs asked him if he would release the video as part of their 25th anniversary. It includes live versions of all the songs except "Hyperactive Child", for which no live footage could be found.

Things kick off slightly louder this time with a performance by The Dictators doing a version of America the Beautiful while the titles role, then right into piece about punk star Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedy's running for mayor of San Francisco. Then back into a more This Is America feeling segment about a crazy fat bloke called Captain Sticky. Among some of the other more interesting segments we get a look at underground vagrants, a piranha attack, martial arts nuns, a family of worm eaters, a drug abusing church and ends with a death row electrocution.
It was clear from the start that the Dead Kennedys were not your average band. Jello Biafra's lyrical themes were overtly political, attacking President Ronald Reagan, the Klan, big business, and such with a glorious sense of raging sarcasm that owes some credence to such wild luminaries as Lenny Bruce. Their appearance at the Earth Tavern in Portland Oregon in November 1979 was a rare step out of their native CA when Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables had just made the stores and Holiday in Cambodia was only just hitting the decks.
