Katsuhiko Maeda (前田勝彦, Maeda Katsuhiko, born 1 November 1975), better known by his stage name World's End Girlfriend, is a Japanese musician from Gotō Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture. He is the founder of the record label Virgin Babylon Records. Katsuhiko Maeda was born on 1 November 1975 in Gotō Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture. At the age of 10, he started making music. His debut studio album, Ending Story, was released in 2000. It was followed by Farewell Kingdom (2001). In 2005, he released a collaborative album with Mono, titled Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain. In February 2007, American webzine Somewhere Cold voted Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain No. 7 on their 2006 Somewhere Cold Awards Hall of Fame. He released Hurtbreak Wonderland in 2007, Seven Idiots in 2010, and Last Waltz in 2016. He has also written the score for films such as Air Doll and Starry Starry Night.

In a seaside town where very little happens, middle school students Keisuke Isobe and Koume Satou live a rather dull life. But when Koume's crush breaks her heart, their situation becomes quite unordinary. She starts a "no-strings-attached" relationship with Keisuke, whom she had previously rejected, both finding solace in the other in order to fill the emotional voids in their lives. However, being "friends with benefits" becomes complicated when real feelings begin to develop, as the consequences of their relationship start to take their toll on those around them and themselves. A Girl on the Shore takes a harsh look at love, relationships, and the emotional price that will be paid as the result of a decision made between two teenagers.

　13歳の孤独な少女、小美（シャオメイ）。おじいちゃん子だった彼女だが、大好きなおじいちゃんは既に亡く、酷くなる一方の両親の関係に家の中はすっかり冷え切っていた。どこにも居場所を見出せず、いつも幻想の中に逃げ込む小美。そんなある日、クラスに小傑（シャオジエ）という転入生がやってくる。彼もまた、家族に大きな問題を抱えていた。孤独な２人は運命のように互いに引き寄せられ、一緒の時間を過ごすようになる。やがて小美は、おじいちゃんと見た美しい星空をもう一度見たいと小傑を誘い、思い出の山小屋を目指して旅に出るのだったが…。

古びたアパートに住み、妻も恋人もいない中年のファミレス店員、秀雄。彼が毎日ほっとするのは帰宅後、ラブドールである“空気人形”と接するひと時だ。ある朝、空気人形は突然心を持ち、秀雄が仕事に出掛けてから、メイド服を着て外出。アパートの外の世界に今まで無かった解放感を覚える。やがて空気人形はレンタルビデオ店でバイトするようになり、店員の純一に一目惚れ。だがラブドールと人間は異なり、恋の成就は難しかった。
