This film on the controversial theatre director and left wing journalist is constructed from the letters and books Leónidas sent to his young sister María Angélica, godmother of director Miguel Colombo, who decides to leave her brother's legacy in the hands of her godson before she dies.

生まれ育ったニューヨークを捨ててアルゼンチンで暮らす兄を探しに、異母弟のベニーがブエノスアイレスに降り立つが、名前を「テトロ」と変えた兄はそっけない態度をとるだけだった。そんなある日、ベニーは兄が密かに執筆していた自伝を盗み見てしまい、それをきっかけに兄弟の仲は決裂。さらにベニー自身の出生にかかわる家族の秘密が明らかになっていく。
After the end of the military dictatorship in Argentina in 1983, Floreal is released from prison. Instead of returning to his wife, he wanders through the night of Buenos Aires. He meets some people from his past–most of which are only imaginary–and remembers the events of his imprisonment.
