Hired to helm an Americanized take on a British play, director Lloyd Fellowes does his best to control an eccentric group of stage actors. With a star actress quickly passing her prime, a male lead with no confidence, and a bit actor that's rarely sober, chaos ensues in the lead up to a Broadway premiere.

温厚誠実な銀行員サム・ウィート（パトリック・スウェイジ）は、陶芸家として成功しつつある最愛の恋人モリー・ジェンセン（デミ・ムーア）と幸せな時間を過ごし、同僚の友人カール・ブルーナー（トニー・ゴールドウィン）とも良好な関係を維持しながら順調に仕事をこなし、平穏な日々を送っていた。 ある日、サムは勤め先の銀行で、コンピュータ内の口座データに異変があるのを発見した。カールが手伝おうとしたが、サムは断り残業して調べる…。 後日、サムとモリーが「マクベス」を観劇しての帰り道、モリーがサムに自分の心を打ち明けた。「貴方と結婚したい」。今まで、彼女が避けていた問題だったのでサムは驚く。悩むサムに、モリーはなぜ「愛してる」と言葉にしてくれないのかと問い詰める。「愛してる……」とモリーが言うと、サムは必ず「Ditto（同じく）」と答えていた。 しかしそのとき、暗がりから一人の暴漢がサムを襲った。そしてサムと暴漢は揉み合いになり、暴漢が持っていた拳銃が発砲された。そして暴漢は逃げ、それを追いかけるも取り逃がしたサムが諦めて戻ると、モリーが血だらけの自分を抱いていた。サムは死んでゴーストになってしまったのだ。

Mayor candidate Mike Rhodes is kidnapped in his own home outside of Los Angeles by unknown, masked terrorists. His wife Kelly barely survives the attempted murder on her, and is able to identify one of the kidnappers. She's placed on the police's protection list while the investigation is ongoing. Ruger, a tough and merciless bounty hunter is out on the streets avenging her partner's death. With Kelly as her bait, Ruger starts a dangerous game to bring Cavanough, a crazed crime kingpin behind the kidnapping, out of hiding.

General Ahmed has started an inner-city People's Army to try and relieve the misery of the citizens of Watts. When the locals are put under increasing pressure by Mafia thugs, Ahmed's second-in-command Colonel Kojah asks for permission to start a protection squad to take more direct action. Ahmed fears this protection squad will just turn into a vigilante mob, and his prediction soon proves correct. Will Ahmed be able to wrest control back from the power-mad Kojah, or will he be the mob's next victim?
