A group of crooks accidentally kill an elderly shop assistant while stealing the keys to the jewellery shop where she works. When his superiors think that the case is better handed over to Scotland Yard, the local detective inspector, Sparrow (Glyn Houston), decides to go solo to investigate the crime himself.

Aware that the justice is on the side of Doctor M., Ramadan, son of one of the Ballist leaders, joins him and contributes to defeat of the Ballists.

The story takes place in a town on Adriatic coast. Mother wants to marry her daughter to a wealthy doctor, but her plan proves to be challenging as they're both seduced by a handsome smuggler.
