겉보기엔 화려한 도시 싼타칼라엔 밤에 출몰하여 무서운 살인을 저지르는 흡혈귀 무리가 있다. 그러나 시민들은 어느날 갑자기 사라지는 그들의 가족들이 피에 굶주린 밤의 존재들의 희생물이 되는 것인줄은 꿈에도 모르고 거리에 '실종벽보'만을 붙이며 슬픈 눈빛으로 나날을 보낸다. 마을에 이사오는 루시(다이안 위스트 분)와 그녀의 두 아들 마이클(제이슨 패트릭 분)과 샘(코리 헤임 분). 엄마 루시가 위자료 한푼 못받고 이혼을 한 탓에 그들은 집도 절도 없이 할아버지 댁에 얹혀살기 위해 싼타칼라에 온 것이다. 그리고 오래지 않아 큰 아들 마이클이 흡혈귀 무리의 유혹을 받아 그들의 피를 마시고 밤의 살인귀로 변해가기 시작한다. 그동안 동생 샘은 만화가게에서 흡혈귀 사냥꾼들의 교육을 받아 뱀파이어에 대한 상식을 얻게 된다. 마이클과 마찬가지로 반쪽짜리 흡혈귀이면서 한편으로 마이클을 사랑하게 되는 소녀 스타(제이미 거츠 분)가 다행히 마이클을 돕기 때문에, 그리고 본래의 마이클이 가지고 있는 건전한 정신과 도덕성 때문에 그는 여러번 살인 유혹을 받는데...

They work for Limbo Corporation, a company dedicated to the shady business, whose CEO is Limboman. Vlak and Michele reign supreme in the city. But Vlak has a restless spirit and decides to yank from his gums the fang chip through which he is monitored by Limboman. He has a mental blackout and starts to roam the city streets. Michele, searching for a new partner, meets Draco, a decadent vampire and former nemesis of Vlak. Their meeting encourages Draco to go back to the streets where he meets Daphne, a ripper psychopath who attacks her victims with a chainsaw. Draco joins her to find Vlak and avenge himself. Vlak, however, is abducted by Wang Su, a Chinese woman that is ruling the underworld in Rio. Wang Su wants to use Vlak to defeat Limboman and take over the command of the shady business.
