The first woman to appear in front of an Edison motion picture camera and possibly the first woman to appear in a motion picture within the United States. In the film, Carmencita is recorded going through a routine she had been performing at Koster & Bial's in New York since February 1890.

The first part tells the story of Moses leading the Jews from Egypt to the Promised Land, his receipt of the tablets and the worship of the golden calf. The second part shows the efficacy of the commandments in modern life through a story set in San Francisco. Two brothers, rivals for the love of Mary, also come into conflict when John discovers Dan used shoddy materials to construct a cathedral.

A dying professor leaves his great-nephew a collection of documents pertaining to the Cthulhu Cult. The nephew begins to learn why the study of the cult so fascinated his grandfather. Bit-by-bit he begins piecing together the dread implications of his grandfather's inquiries, and soon he takes on investigating the Cthulhu cult as a crusade of his own.

Guy and his sister grow up on an island. His domineering mother keeps watch over everything from the tip of a lighthouse, his eccentric father experiments in the basement laboratory. Then there are the orphans, on whose heads the adoptive parents later find puzzling wounds. Another brother and sister pair is sent to the island: the Lightball Kids, two detectives that are meant to bring light into the darkness. The brothers and sisters are all yanked into the emotional roller coaster of first love, while something cryptic comes to light in the parents' house.

마리(Marie St. Clair: 에드나 퍼비안스 분)는 계부의 반대를 피해 애인 장과 도망치기로 한다. 그런데 아버지가 쓰러지는 바람에 장은 약속을 지키지 못하고, 마리 혼자 파리로 온다. 파리에서 사교계에 등장한 마리는 소문난 부자 리벨(Pierre Revel: 아돌프 멘조 분)과 가까워진다. 어느날 우연히 파티장에서 장(Jean Millet: 칼 밀러 분)과 그의 어머니를 만나고, 마리는 장의 청혼을 받아들여 결혼을 결심한다. 그러나 결혼을 반대하는 어머니에게 연민 때문에 결혼한다고 장이 말하는 것을 듣고는 결혼을 포기한다. 다시 리벨에게 돌아온 마리는 전보다 더 화려하게 그와 돌아다니고, 장은 자신의 무력감을 느기고 자살한다. 장의 시체앞에서 우는 마리를 보고 장의 어머니도 그녀를 이해하게 된다. 세월이 흘러 마음의 상처는 치유되고 마리와 장의 어머니는 시골에서 고아들을 돌본다. 어느날 마리는 마차를 타고 지나가는데 엇갈려서 리벨이 롤스로이스를 타고 지나간다. 그러나 둘은 서로를 보지 못한다.

일자리가 없어 거리를 헤매던 떠돌이 찰리는 우연히 서커스단 근처를 지나다 일을 하게 된다. 그곳에서 소품을 관리하던 찰리는 공중곡예의 일인자인 렉스와 메르나의 관계가 깊어지는 것을 보며 서커스단을 나온다. 밤이 되어 길 옆에서 혼자 불을 쬐고 있던 찰리는 서커스단에서 도망쳐 나온 메르나를 만난다. 찰리는 자기가 메르나에게 해줄 수 있는 것이라고는 그녀를 다시 렉스와 결합시켜 주는 것 밖에 없음을 절감한다. 찰리의 도움으로 사랑을 찾은 렉스와 메르나는 결혼과 함께 다시 서커스단을 찾는다. 그들이 서커스단을 따라 다음 행선지를 향해 떠나는 모습을 바라보던 찰리는 다시 새로운 방황의 길을 향해 힘찬 걸음을 내딛는다.

네덜란드의 왕자 지그프리트는 군터 왕을 만나러 가던 중 거대한 용을 만난다. 용을 무찌른 지그프리트는 용의 피를 뒤집어 쓰고 불사신이 되고, 난쟁이의 도깨비 감투도 손에 넣는다. 이후 군터 왕을 만난 지그프리트는 그의 여동생 크림힐트와의 결혼을 요청하고, 군터는 자신이 아이슬랜드의 여왕 브룬힐트와 결혼할 수 있도록 도와주면 결혼을 허락하겠노라고 한다. 브룬힐트와 결혼하기 위해서는 그녀와의 대결에서 이겨야만 했는데, 군터는 지그프리트의 힘을 이용한 것이다. 대결에서 이긴 군터는 브룬힐트와 결혼하고 지그프리트와 크림힐트도 결혼하지만, 속임수로 자신을 이겼음을 알게 된 브룬힐트는 크게 분노하고 지그프리트를 죽일 음모를 꾸민다.

가난한 시골 처녀 애나는 내키지 않았지만 어머니의 부탁으로 친척에게 돈을 꾸러 도시로 간다. 그런데 귀여운 애나를 눈여겨본 바람둥이 레녹스가 그녀를 꾀어 둘은 결혼까지 하게 된다. 하지만 애나는 임신한 채 버림받고 아이마저 죽자 절망한 그녀는 정처 없이 떠돌아다닌다. 그러다 애나는 대지주 바틀릿가에서 일하게 되는데 지주의 아들 데이비드가 애나에게 반한다. 하지만 과거의 상처에서 벗어나지 못한 애나는 데이비드를 거부한다. 여러 차례 영화화되었던 로티 블레어 파커의 동명 희곡을 바탕으로 했으며, 이 희곡을 각색한 작품 중 최고로 꼽힌다. 무성영화의 여신 릴리언 기쉬가 애나 역을 맡아 열연했다.

Erstwhile childhood friends, Judah Ben-Hur and Messala meet again as adults, this time with Roman officer Messala as conqueror and Judah as a wealthy, though conquered, Israelite. A slip of a brick during a Roman parade causes Judah to be sent off as a galley slave, his property confiscated and his mother and sister imprisoned. Years later, as a result of his determination to stay alive and his willingness to aid his Roman master, Judah returns to his homeland an exalted and wealthy Roman athlete. Unable to find his mother and sister, and believing them dead, he can think of nothing else than revenge against Messala.

어깨에 카메라를 짊어지고 도시의 이곳저곳을 돌아다니며 사람들의 일상생활과 다양한 도시의 모습을 촬영하는 카메라맨의 이야기를 다룬 다큐멘터리이다. 지가 베르토프는 이 영화를 '자막·시나리오·세트·배우의 도움 없이 시각적 현상을 전달하는 실험'이라고 불렀다. 그는 이 영화에서 구성주의와 몽타주 편집기법을 결합시켜 사물을 입체적으로 보여주는 한편 혁명 이후 민중들의 삶을 활기차고 낙관적으로 묘사하였다.
