The true story of the birth, growth and coming of age of a leopard cub in Africa's Serengeti plain. The journey of "The Leopard Son" begins at his mother's side where he discovers, through play, essential skills for survival in the wild. As it is with humans, there inevitably comes the day when a child must leave his mother to go out on his own.
‘잭 할시’의 가족은 꿈에 그리던 아프리카로 여행을 간다. 아름다운 사파리에서 가족 간의 즐거운 시간을 기대하며 케냐에 도착하지만, 아프리카 초원 한가운데에서 그들의 차가 예기치 않게 전복되면서 조난을 당하게 된다. 야생 동물들과, 그보다 더 끔찍한 존재와 마주하게 되며 그들의 꿈만 같던 여행은 악몽으로 바뀌는데...
잃어버린 공룡 뼈를 찾으려 하는 소심한 고생물학자와 별 이유도 없이 그에게 방해가 되기만 하는 듯한 젊은 여인이 만나고 함께 하면서 떠들썩한 소동이 벌어진다.
“사랑의 충동이란 종종 갈등의 형태로 모습을 드러낸다”라는 대사가 나온다. 이 말은 하워드 혹스의 영화 거의 대부분에 들어맞는다고 할 수 있는데 그 점에서는 당연히 이 스크루볼 코미디 영화도 예외가 될 순 없다.
행크는 아프리카 고원에서 동물을 연구하여 동물과 같이 살아간다. 공항으로 마중나가려던 행크는 마침 아프리카 당국의 밀림 사육 관리들이 찾아와 동물들을 보호 구역으로 내쫓으라고 하자 이에 항의하다가 가족들의 도착 시간을 놓친다. 가족들은 온갖 고생끝에 지친 몸으로 행크의 짐을 찾아오나 그는 보이지 않고 수십마리의 사자와 호랑이들이 그들을 맞이한다. 집안에서 동물들에게 쫓기는 가운데 밤이 깊어 가족들은 창고에 쓰러져 잠이 든다. 이윽고 허겁지겁 집에 돌아온 행크는 가족과 반가운 재회를 한다.
뉴 멕시코의 작은 마을에서 잔혹한 범죄가 연속으로 일어난다. 곧이어 마을 사람들은 한 마리의 표범이 도망쳐 마을 공동묘지에 숨어있음을 알게 된다. 코넬 울리치의 단편 「블랙 알리바이」를 영화화한 작품. 화면에서 공포를 표현하기 위한 갖가지 시도와 탐구는 표현주의 영화를 연상케 할 정도로 다양하며, 히스패닉 문화를 지닌 뉴 멕시코 중류층의 풍속 탐구도 세심하다.

Such animals have no choice but to invade human habitats and become man-eaters. This story is inspired by one such attack. A couple vacationing in the Indian jungle are disturbed by the arrival of the wife's ex-lover, opening wounds that are best left unhealed; but their troubles have only begun. They are being hunted by a leopard that's turned man-eater and it will stop at nothing to satisfy its hunger.
