10년간 지방 소도시의 대학에서 고고학 교수 생활을 하던 중에 돌연 사직서를 제출하고 이사를 가려는 존 올드맨 교수(데이빗 리 스미스)는 그의 행동에 의심을 품고 집요하게 추궁하는 동료와 친구들이 마련한 환송회에서 갑자기 폭탄선언을 한다. 그건 다름 아닌 자신이 14,000년 전부터 살아온 사람이라는 것. 그는 매번 10년마다 자신이 늙지 않는다는 것을 알아채기 전에 다른 신분으로 바꿔 이주해왔고, 지금의 이 곳에서도 10년을 채웠기 때문에 서둘러 다른 곳으로 이동을 할 수 밖에 없으며, 그 동안 역사 속 여러 인물들과 세계를 뒤흔들었던 사건에 관여했다고 주장한다.

미국의 거대한 광산회사 겸 극지개발회사의 북극기지 연구소에서 일하는 의학, 고고인류학, 생물학, 생화학 연구진들은 어느날 빙하속에서 약 2만년전 인간으로 추정되는 원시인의 냉동된 시신을 발견한다. 연구기지로 그 얼음덩이를 가져다 녹인 연구진들은 인공혈액을 주입시키고 갖가지 약품과 의학적인 방법을 사용해서 그를 살려내는데 성공한다. 젊은 고고인류학자인 세피드 박사는 연구팀들이 그를 생체 해부, 미국 각지의 의과대학에 몸의 각부분을 보내서 연구시키기 전에 완전한 인간으로써 연구할 기간을 달라고 애원, 2주일의 기간을 얻어 낸다. 찰리란 이름을 붙인 이 원시인은 원시환경에서 혼자 쓸쓸히 옛 삶의 방식을 재현해 보다가 세피드와 친구가 되고, 알 수 없는 음향과 언어로 대화를 하려한다. 본국에서 달려온 언어학자가 사라진 언어가 오랜 에스키모의 조상의 말과 비슷한 음성학적 구조를 갖고 있다고 말한다.

1985년 멕시코에서 실제로 발생했던 국립 인류학박물관의 도난 사건에서 영감을 얻었다. 의사 아버지를 둔 부유층 자제 후안은 차일피일 졸업을 미루며 부모 집에 얹혀산다. 후안은 친구인 윌슨과 함께 박물관의 고대유물을 훔치기로 작정하고 치밀한 계획을 세운다. 어설프기 짝이 없는 두 사람이지만 절도 계획만큼은 치밀하기 그지없고 계획은 성공으로 이어진다. 가엘 가르시아 베르날이 주연과 제작총괄로 참여한 "박물관 도적단"은 루이즈팔라시오스의 모든 장기를 유감없이 보여준다. 소위 ‘루저’라 불리는 두 젊은이의 절도는 재기 넘치는 코미디와 하이스트 영화의 장르적 재미를 따라가는 듯하다가도 이내 가족 드라마와 블랙코미디, 80년대 레트로풍의 이미지를 경유한 멜랑콜리와 절묘하게 결합한다. 자칫 산만한 나열로 그칠 수 있는 다양한 관심과 스타일을 묶어내는 세련된 프로덕션과 연출은 감독의 차기작을 기대하게끔 한다. 2018년 베를린영화제 각본상 수상작. After squandering his grant money, despondent and recently widowed anthropologist James Krippendorf must produce hard evidence of the existence of a heretofore undiscovered New Guinea tribe. Grass skirts, makeup, and staged rituals transform his three troubled children into the Shelmikedmu, a primitive culture whose habits enthrall scholars. But when a spiteful rival threatens to blow the whistle on Krippendorf's ruse, he gets into the act as well.

The film discusses the traits and originators of some of metal's many subgenres, including the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, power metal, Nu metal, glam metal, thrash metal, black metal, and death metal. Dunn uses a family-tree-type flowchart to document some of the most popular metal subgenres. The film also explores various aspects of heavy metal culture.

가족을 깊이 사랑하지만 어리숙하고 소심한 아버지, 섹시한 외모를 가졌지만 발정에 가깝게 밝히는(?) 첫째 딸, 항상 아버지와 티격태격하는 단순무식한 아들, 귀여운 꼬마의 외모를 하고 있지만 속을 알 수 없는 막내. 인간이 되고 싶은 네 마리(?)의 구미호 가족은 천년이 되는 날 인간의 싱싱한 간을 먹으면, 진짜 인간으로 거듭날 수 있다는 부푼 기대를 품고 그 천년의 날을 한달 남겨둔 채 도시에 나타난다. 그리고 자신들의 주무기인 각종 둔갑술을 내세워 서커스장을 개업, 각자의 포지션에서 인간 홀리기에 열중한다. 하지만 천 년의 시간이 흐르는 동안 인간 세상은 너무나 많이 변했고, 인간들은 이제 그리 만만한 존재가 아니다. 그래도 천년의 꿈을 포기할 수 없는 구미호 가족, 하지만 그들의 서커스장에는 동네 꼬마들만 왔다가 피 튀기는 그들의 서커스를 보고 울고 갈 뿐이다. 그러던 어느 날 여자들에게 접근, 몰래 카메라를 찍어 파는 사기꾼 기동이 우연히 서커스장에 왔다가 첫째 딸에게 접근을 한다. 하지만 이 이상한(?) 가족은 두 손 들어 이 수상한 인간 기동이를 환영하고 첫째 딸 합방을 강제로 권한다. 합방 도중 이 가족의 정체를 알아버린 기동은 구미호의 변신 과정을 몰래 카메라로 찍어 한몫을 챙기려는 속셈으로 특유의 잔머리를 써서 그들과 함께 지내게 되고 급기야 서커스단 모집 공고를 내면 인간들이 제 발로 찾아올 것이라는 묘안을 내 대대적인 서커스 단원 모집에 나서는데…
