부푼 희망을 안고 대학생이 된 에밀리 로즈(제니퍼 카펜터 분)는 기숙사 생활 중 끔찍한 환영과 마주치게 된다. 매일 새벽 3시마다 어김없이 점점 더 끔찍한 모습으로 그녀를 찾아오는 환영과 극심한 발작으로 에밀리는 갈수록 쇠약해진다. 신경과를 비롯한 현대의학은 그녀에게 아무런 도움도 되지 못하고, 마침내 가톨릭 교회는 리처드 무어 신부(톰 윌킨슨)를 통해 신체적, 정신적 고통이 극에 달한 에밀리에게 엑소시즘의 최고단계인 ‘리투알 로마니’를 행하도록 허락한다. 하지만 엑소시즘 도중 에밀리가 사망하는 사고가 벌어지고, 무어신부는 가혹한 엑소시즘과 에밀리를 죽게 방치했다는 혐의로 재판까지 받게된다. 무어신부의 변호를 맡은 유능한 여변호사 에린(로라 리니)은 무신론자였지만 사건을 맡은 이후 자신도 예상치 못한 공포를 겪으면서 과실치사 혐의로 신부를 고소한 검사측과 치열한 변론으로 치달으며 TV로 생중계되기에 이르자 전국이 충격과 공포에 휩싸이게 되는데… 과연 에밀리 로즈를 죽인 것은 악령인가, 신부인가?

순진한 역사 선생 케이트(Kate: 멕 라이언 분)는 의사인 찰리(Charlie: 티모시 허튼 분)와 약혼한 사이로 그와 새 가정을 꾸밀 꿈에 부풀어 있다. 고소 공포증으로 비행기 타기를 무서워하는 케이트는 세미나 차 파리에 가자는 찰리의 제의를 거절하고 집에 홀로 남는다. 얼마 후, 케이트는 찰리로부터 사랑하는 여자가 생겼다는 전화를 받는다. 그길로 비행기를 집어타고 파리로 가던 중 건달같이 보이는 뤼크(Luc Teyssier: 케빈 클라인 분)라는 남자가 케이트에게 관심을 보인다. 뤼크는 어린애 같이 순진무구한 케이트에게 자꾸 끌리는 자신을 발견한다. 뤼크의 전략대로 찰리와 만난 케이트는 찰리가 새로 사귄 여자를 버리고 다시 자신에게 돌아오겠다고 하자 그에게 환멸을 느낀다. 그리고는 포도밭을 경영해서 건전한 삶을 찾겠다는 뤼크의 원을 이루어 주기 위해 이제까지 저금해온 45,000여 달라를 톡톡 털어서 뤼크가 훔친 다이아몬드 목걸이 값을 지불해 주고 떠난다. 이 사실을 알게된 뤼크는 케이트를 뒤쫓아가 사랑을 고백하고, 케이트 또한 이번 경험을 통하여 진실한 사랑이 뭔지 깨닫고 뤼크를 받아들인다.

One of the film's highlights is a mutual kicking session between Cardinal Richelieu, the King, and a monk. James Kincaid controls the local water supply and plans to do away with the other ranchers. Government agent Sandy Saunders arrives undercover to investigate Kincaid's land swindle scheme, and win the heart of one of his victims, Fay Denton.

In his starring debut, Roy gets elected to Congress in order to bring water to the ranchers in his district. In Washington, he learns he needs the backing of a key congressman and gets that man to go west for an inspection trip. When the congressman is initially unimpressed, Roy gets the inspection party stranded without water to show the true conditions.

After Pat Garrett kills Billy the Kid, Billy's look-alike Roy Rogers arrives and is mistaken for him. Although a murderer, Billy was on the side of the homesteaders against the large ranchers. As Billy's death is unknown, Roy gets Garrett to let him pose as Billy to continue the fight, but without the killing.

Roy is a newspaper reporter. He goes to Cheyenne to cover the activities of supposed bad guy Arapahoe Brown. Roy, of course, discovers who the real bad guy is.

Frank Sr. sells his supplies to Hook, but then Hook has the Bannion Boys bushwhack his wagon to get the money back. Frank is murdered, but Junior gets away. He comes back 10 years later to settle the score as the Singing Cowboy. He finds that Hook is still doing his dirty deeds on the unsuspecting people. Along the way, Frank meets the lovely Jen, who came out in the same wagon train 10 years before.

Marshal Landry captures outlaw Girard and bringing him in finds a woman and two children, the only survivors of an Indian attack. Later, transferring the prisoner his brothers free him. Then a stage is robbed of a silver shipment by Girard and his brothers. Examining telegrams gets Landry a confession from Girard's girlfriend. The telegraph line has been tapped and the telegrapher is the supposedly dead husband of the woman he brough in. Now knowing Girard's location he sets out after him.
