16세기부터 19세기까지 스페인의 식민지였던 필리핀은 긴 독립 운동 끝에 1898년 6월 12일, 스페인으로부터 독립한다. 영화는 이 혼란의 시기를 배경으로 필리핀 ‘반군’과 마지막까지 싸운 스페인의 군인들을 그린다. 이들은 패배가 거의 코앞에 다가왔음에도 조국의 영광을 지키기 위해 외딴 요새에 틀어박혀 현실을 받아들이지 않는다. 2017년 고야상 의상상 수상.

도시전역에 기괴한 전염병이 돌기 시작하더니 사람들이 하나둘 죽어간다. 더구나 죽은 시체들은 육체가 다시 살아나 가족, 애인 심지어 자식까지 잡아먹는 끔찍한 일이 여기저기서 벌어진다. 죽어도 육체만 살아나 떠다니며 사람을 식육한다는 좀비들이 도시를 온통 대혼란에 빠뜨린 것이다. 홀더박사팀과 여자, 군인 몇 명만이 도시에서 탈출한다. 이들은 전염병해독제를 개발하고, 감염지역에 소독을 한다. 곧이어 희생자를 위한 특별구급대가 형성된다. 도시에는 비상경계령이 내려지고, 군당국이 관할하는데 모든 시민들의 출입을 금지시킨다. 궁당국은 좀비들이 곧 소탕되어 정상회복은 시간문제라지만 희생자는 늘어만 간다.

베트남 전쟁을 배경으로 극한에 처한 인간의 광기와 전쟁의 공포를 그린 프랜시스 포드 코폴라의 1979년작 의 제작 과정에 대한 다큐멘터리. 작가이기도 한 코폴라의 부인 엘레노어 코폴라가 연출에 참여했으며, 제목은 에 영감을 주었던 영국 현대 문학의 대표작 『어둠의 심연』(1899, 조지프 콘래드)에서 가져왔다. 기상 악화, 배우들의 컨디션 난조 등의 이유로 촬영은 계속 지연되어 제작비가 눈덩이처럼 불어나자 코폴라 감독의 경력은 물론 그의 삶까지 위태로워진다. 출연 배우들과 제작진의 생생한 증언까지 들을 수 있다. When a group of British soldiers are sent on a mission behind enemy lines, things don't go exactly to plan. This film differs in that some of the 'heroes' are very reluctant, but they come good when they are pursued by the Japanese who are determined to prevent them returning to base.

1941년 12월, 일본의 침략에 맞서 필리핀을 방어하기 위해 존 브리클리 중위가 이끄는 어뢰정 부대가 마닐라로 급파된다. 하지만 존의 부대는 환영받기는커녕 주둔 부대의 놀림감이 된다. 작은 어뢰정은 도움이 되지 않는다며 존의 부대를 무시하고, 본부에 구축함을 요청하는 해군의 행태에 존의 부하 라이언은 분노한다. 그러나 일본군이 진주만을 습격했다는 비보가 전해지고, 곧 일본군의 공격이 시작되는데, 전투가 진행될수록 전장에서 효율적으로 움직이며, 효과적으로 적의 배를 공격해 침몰시키는 어뢰정의 활약이 돋보인다. 하지만 전투력에서나 수적으로나 열세였던 미군은 점점 수세에 몰리고, 섬을 일본군에 빼앗길 위기에 처한다. 2차 세계대전 당시 어뢰정(PT boats)을 몰고 참전했던 미 해군의 활약을 그리고 있는데, 제목에서 어뢰정 부대를 해군이 어떻게 생각했는지 알 수 있다. 병사들의 모습이나 전투 장면은 매우 사실적으로 느껴지며, 전쟁이 끝날 무렵 미국이 승리를 앞둔 시기에 만들었음에도 영화 속에는 패배의 어두운 그림자가 드리워져 있다.

In the final decades of the 20th century, the Philippines was a country where low-budget exploitation-film producers were free to make nearly any kind of movie they wanted, any way they pleased. It was a country with extremely lax labor regulations and a very permissive attitude towards cultural expression. As a result, it became a hotbed for the production of cheapie movies. Their history and the genre itself are detailed in this breezy, nostalgic documentary.

Photographer Billy and his girlfriend Sarah have just moved into a new apartment. They are no longer in love, but they content themselves with sex, often involving role play. Billy becomes enamored with their new neighbor Dana, who spends her days at home blogging and supplying drugs to a local dealer. The thing is, Dana’s more attracted to Sarah. Billy lays out a deal: Dana can spend the night with Sarah, and in exchange, he gets to have sex with her. Billy manipulates the two ladies to get what he wants, but he fails to realize the risk of the arrangement.

Set in December 2021, Resiklo is the story of Crisval Sarmiento, an ex-military Colonel who leads a rag-tag group of survivors in the Philippines against the insect-like alien invaders known as the Balangs. Because of the enormous expenditures in resources during the invasion, the humans are forced to scavenge the destroyed landscape for anything that could be recycled and put to use at their secret sanctuary, called Paraiso. However, they are in a race against time, as in addition to the resource gathering, the survivors are fighting to eliminate the Balangs and their human collaborators, the Mutanos, while keeping Paraiso's location secret and along the way, uncovering the truth behind the invasion as well.
