Angelika Kirchschlager and Diana Damrau play Hansel and Gretel, respectively, and beloved British baritone Thomas Allen portrays their father in an outstanding production led by maestro Colin Davis.

While the rest of the Hebrews bewail their fate, Samson alone trusts in God's promise of liberty. Abimelech, the Philistine satrap of Gaza, enters to mock the Hebrews' God, proclaiming the superiority of Dagon, and the Hebrews are afraid of him. But calls them to show some defiance, so Abimelech attacks Samson with his sword. Samson seizes the sword and strikes him dead. The Hebrews scatter and the High Priest of Dagon appears, cursing the Hebrews. When a messenger reports that the Hebrews are ravaging the harvest, the High Priest forms a plan to use Delilah to overcome Samson's strength. Delilah's beauty is such that Samson can't resist her for long. She begs to know the secret of his supernatural strength, but he refuses, though he says he loves her. Delilah betrays Samson by having some Philistine soldiers seize him and throw him into a prison in Gaza, where his hair is cut off.
The Magic Flute opens with Prince Tamino being rescued from a serpent by Ladies in the employ of the Queen of the Night. Papageno the bird-catcher arrives and claims he killed the serpent, but the outraged Ladies padlock Papageno's mouth for his lie. They also show Tamino a portrait of Princess Pamina, the Queen's kidnapped daughter, and he immediately falls in love. Protected by a golden flute, he sets off with the bird-catcher Papageno to rescue Pamina from the clutches of the sorcerer Sarastro and a madcap adventure involving magicians, wild animals and very Masonic-like trials. Triumphing over all adversity, the lovers unite, as the forces of light banish the darkness and Papageno even finds a true love of his own. The internationally renowned Mozart interpreter Sir Colin Davis conducts the chorus and orchestra of the Royal Opera House and a glittering cast in David McVicar's 2003 production of the opera Mozart wrote in the final year of his life, recorded live at Covent Garden.

Seeking to exorcise the failure of his current love affair, the poet Hoffmann tells the tales of his three past loves - the doll-like Olympia, the high-class courtesan Giulietta, and the ambitious but delicate Antonia - and recalls how each was thwarted by the evil influence of his rival. In this production by the distinguished film director, John Schlesinger, with spectacular designs by Maria Bjornson and William Dudley, Offenbach's nightmare world is brought to life. The all-star cast is headed by Placido Domingo as Hoffmann: his three loves are Ileana Cotrubas, Anges Baltsa and Luciana Serra and the manifestations of his rival are sung by Geraint Evans, Robert Lloyd, Siegmund Nimsgern and Nicola Ghiuselev. The score, which includes such favourites as the "Barcarolle" and the "Doll's Song", is conducted by Georges Pretre.

In this live performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera, Violetta, a courtesan much wooed by Parisian society, organises a grand party that is attended, amongst others, by the young Alfredo Germont. He confesses his feelings to Violetta, who is already suffering from consumption. She vacillates between genuine affection and a realistic assessment of her situation as a "fallen woman", which precludes any lasting relationship with a man.

모르핀 중독자, 요한나는 약의 과다복용으로 인해 혼수상태에 빠졌다가 기적적으로 살아난다. 이후 특별한 능력을 갖게 되는데 병들고 노약한 환자들과 성적 접촉을 함으로써 병을 깨끗하게 낫게 하는 '성적 치료력'이 그것이다. 그런 그녀를 업신여기는 병원 직원들과 반면 그녀를 자비의 천사로 여기는 환자들 사이에 대립이 시작된다. 한마디로 ‘고전적인 오페라와 감각적 실험 정신의 만남’이다. 몬드룩조는 오페라의 풍부한 고전미와 현대의 메마른 정서를 뒤섞어 묘한 감각을 선보이고 있다. 절대 억압이 지배하는 감옥 같은 병원에서 방종에 가까운(혹은 그렇게 보이는) 자유를 극적으로 대조시킴으로써 인간 본연의 본능을 통해 치유를 표현하는 방법론은 아주 흥미롭다. 모르핀 중독자 요한나는 약의 과다복용으로 인해 혼수상태에 빠진다. 그러나 젊은 의사는 죽음에 임박한 그녀를 기적적으로 살려내고 그녀는 완벽히 회복됨은 물론이요, 왠지 다시 태어난 듯한 느낌을 받는다. 이후 그녀는 기억상실증으로 과거를 완전히 잃어버리지만 특별한 능력을 발견하게 되는데 그것은 ‘성적 치료력’. 그녀는 간호사로 일하면서 아픈 환자들에게 그녀의 몸을 주기 시작한다. 그녀의 이런 특이한 치료를 혐오하는 병원 사람들은 그녀를 매춘부라고 부르며 그녀를 억압하려 하지만 그녀를 보호하려는 환자들 때문에 쉽지 않다. 간호사 요한나의 이런 행위는 모든 것이 정체되고 억압된 장소인 병원에서 성을 자유와 치유의 도구로 삼아 기적적으로 환자를 고치는 자비와 사랑의 천사의 것처럼 표현된다. 특히 성적인 관계를 통해 생명의 기운을 불어넣어주는 듯 연출된 장면이 인상적이다.(부천판타스틱영화제 - 이유진)
