Two men depend on each other for survival in the first world war, but something in their past might prevent them to get along. Will they be able to put everything aside in order to survive?

The plot confronts an influential surgeon and a carpenter accused to have stolen the doctor's personal belongings from the beach. The neurotic doctor involves himself in the inquiry, ultimately directing the interrogation. The burglary victim, Theodor Hristea, a surgeon at the peak of his career and social life, self-confident and well connected, his girlfriend, Cristina and their common friend, Stefan - find themselves on holiday near the summer resort of Mamaia. The doctor has a detective passion and accuses – just on account of a physical resemblance with the real thief - a young carpenter who happens to come at the same beach the day following the burglary. The police is summoned and The Kid is sent to trial. The doctor plays an active part in the investigation. Although the doctor's girlfriend and his friend doubt the identity of the accused, the surgeon insists in being right and succeeds in sending the innocent young man to prison.

Along the way, stories of friendship, love and rivalry emerge. In one story, a poor young man is disappointed in love as his girl chooses lucre over love in selecting a mate.

루마니아의 카르파티아 산맥에 위치한 지우 밸리에서 한 광산촌 노동자가 의문사한다. 국립수사국 소속인 검시관 드미트루 코스타(라즈밴 바실레슈)에게 처음 맡겨진 일은 바로 그 시체를 부검하는 것이다. 사체는 장기간 폐쇄조치됐던 탄광에서 발견됐고 며칠 후 또 다른 두 명의 노동자들이 거기서 사망한다. 코스타는 그 죽음들에 대해 의문을 제기하지만 상부에는 음침한 기운이 감돈다. 광산촌의 경영자들은 광부들 사이에서 소요가 일어날까 노심초사하고, 정부의 고위관료들은 은근슬쩍 사건을 은폐하려 애쓴다. 그리고 코스타는 협박전화를 받는다. 이에 코스타의 애인도 주춤하게 되지만, 오직 코스타만이 사건을 포기하지 않는다. 부패해가는 공산당 조직이 광산 안에 한 테러범을 가둬놓고 광산 노동자들의 사회를 분열시키고자 했던 것이다. 루마니아 작가 라스반 포페스큐의 소설에서 모티브를 얻은 는 한 탄광에서 있었던 실화를 바탕으로 하고 있다. 하지만 정부와 미디어는 사건을 중요하게 다루지 않았고 실제로 그 사건은 쉽게 망각됐다. 뤼시앙 핀틸리의 목표는 바로 그 박제화된 기억을 일깨우는 것이다. 그가 언제나 영화를 통해 질문하는 것은 바로 국가권력의 부조리한 미스테리다. 영화 속에서 코스타는 그토록 찾아 헤맸던 사건의 실체에 다가서지만, 살기 위해서 입을 다물어야 했음을 뒤늦게 깨닫게 된다. 그렇게 영화는 루마니아의 차우체스쿠 처형 이후, 집단적인 권력의 병폐에 도전한다. A young intellectual woman, Nicole is arrested. There follow three months of exhausting interrogation and isolation. Alone in a cell, she undergoes a spiritual experience similar to that of the great mystics.

Moody, atmospheric ghost story starring Mason as a retired tradesman who purchases an old mansion that has been vacant for 40 years because it is believed to be haunted by the spirit of a young woman who had died there. Unaware of the mansion's reputation, Mason and his wife Mullen move in and hire a young woman, Lockwood, to keep house. Soon after Lockwood's arrival, strange things begin to happen in the household, and it becomes apparent that she is possessed by the spirit of the dead girl, though Mason scoffs at the idea. On death's door and bedridden, Lockwood asks for the same doctor who treated the woman who died 40 years ago. He arrives and treats her. The next morning Lockwood is cured, and it is revealed by the police that the doctor's dead body was found in his carriage hours before the time Mason claims he arrived to see Lockwood. Convinced that not only the ghost of the girl but that of the doctor as well entered his home, Mason finally believes in the supernatural.
