A Bad Film (1950)

헤더은 공포영화의 특수효과를 담당하고 있는 쳬이스 포터와 결혼해 아들 딜란과 행복하게 살고있다. 그러나 요즘들어 10년 전에 완전히 죽은 것으로 돼 있는 프레디가 나타나 헤더를 괴롭히기 시작한다. 뿐만 아니라, 자기가 프레디라고 주장하는 괴전화가 걸려오기 시작한다. 헤더의 불안은 불안으로만 끝나지 않고, 남편 제이스가 쇠손톱에 찍혀 죽는 사고가 나고만다. 곧이어, 특수효과부의 재크와 테리도 죽는다. 남편의 장례식에서 만난 프레디를 맡았던 로버트 잉글룬드 에게서 웨스 크레이븐이 새로운 각본은 쓰고 있으며, 그 영화를 위해 제이스는 '새로운 악몽'이라는 그 작품에서 프레디가 쓸 새 손을 제작 중이였다는 사실을 알고 놀라게 된다. 장례식이 끝난 후, 헤더는 각본쓰고 있는 웨스 크레이븐을 만난다. 하지만 웨스의 각본은 자신이 꾸는 악몽을 기록하는데 불과하며, 그 작품의 여주인공을 헤더가 하며, 헤더의 아들 딜란도 까지도 출연해야 한다는 것이었다. 헤더는 펄쩍 뛰고 거절하지만 그 영화를 통해 이 세상으로 나오려던 프레디는 딜란을 납치해서 헤더에게 출연 승락을 받아내려 한다. 헤더는 비장한 결심을 하고, 프레디가 갇혀 있는 지옥으로 찾아가 피나는 대결을 하게 되는데...

엘리와 지미 남매는 밤늦게 귀가하던 중 교통사고를 당하고, 구조 과정에서 정체모를 괴물에게 습격당한다. 지미는 괴물이 늑대인간처럼 생겼다고 주장하지만 아무도 신경쓰지 않는다. 지미는 인터넷과 도서관을 돌아다니며 늑대인간에 대한 자료를 수집하던 중 자신들을 공격한 괴물이 늑대인간이며, 괴물에게 상처를 입은 자기들 남매 역시 전염되었다는 것을 확신한다.

작은 소도시 우즈버러에 사는 케이시에게 이상한 남자로부터 전화가 걸려온다. 비디오를 보려는 케이시에게 그 남자는 케이시의 남자 친구인 스티브의 목숨을 걸고 게임을 하자고 한다. 케이시가 문제를 맞추면 살고, 틀리면 남자친구가 죽는다. 문제는 '13일의 금요일'에 나오는 살인마의 이름을 맞추는 것. 케이시는 문제를 풀지 못하고, 스티브는 처참하게 죽임을 당한다. 이튿날, 혼자 집에 있는 시드니에게도 이상한 전화가 걸려온다. 시드니는 케이시와는 달리 힘들게 괴전화의 마수에서 빠져 나온다. 그러나 시드니의 남자 친구 빌리가 살인 용의자로 체포되는데, 조사 후 무혐의로 풀려난다.

영화배우 세레나 브룩스는 주연으로 캐스팅되려면 공포 영화에 도전해야 한다는 매니저의 말에 내키지 않지만, 앨라배마 채프먼이라는 이름의 공포 영화 전문 감독을 만난다. 세레나의 남자친구 역은 유명 아역 배우 출신 블레이크 스톤이 맡았고, 4주동안 영화배우들과 제작진과 숲속에서 촬영이 진행된다는 말에 세레나의 남자친구는 언짢아한다. 영화촬영장소인 숲에 도착한 후 전화와 인터넷이 불통이라 인터넷 수리기사를 불렀지만, 감독은 영화에만 집중해야 한다면서 수리기사가 가져온 라우터를 박살 낸다. 영화 촬영이 끝난 조연 배우들은 작별인사도 없이 하나둘 사라지기 시작하고, 세레나는 뭔가 이상하다고 느끼기 시작한다. 영화에서 죽은 배우들의 장면들이 실제 살인현장을 촬영한 것을 알게 되고 연쇄 살인마들과의 목숨을 건 대결을 벌이게 된다.

비슷비슷한 상업 영화만 찍어대다가 질릴 대로 질려버린 할리우드 배우. 아르헨티나로 건너가 실험적이면서도 의미 있는 일을 찾아보기로 한다.
