The Great American Hobo produced in 1980 features the music of Supertramp's "Take the Long Way Home" documenting the men and women who rode freight trains. Shot in 14 states and culminates with the Hobo Convention in Britt Iowa. Premiered the Independent Eye series for PBS in 1980.

An irresponsible preppie, Preston West, is presumed to have murdered his parents for a sizable inheritance, so he flees to find the real killer, Phantom 13, a crazed freight train hobo. Riding speeding boxcars, Preston encounters hostile train yards, vicious railroad cops, hidden hobo jungles, mysterious Lacy, the notorious Baron and his colorful Hobo Gang. In a surprise ending, Preston finally confronts Phantom 13.

[낙타의 눈물]에 이은 비암바수렌 다바아의 몽골 평원 시리즈 두 번째 영화. [동굴에서 나온 누렁개]는 몽고 유목민 가족과 개의 인연을 다룬 영화다. 유목민 가족의 6살 먹은 맏딸 난살이 동굴에서 찾아낸 개를 집으로 데려왔지만 아버지는 개를 키울 수 없다고 한다. 어디서 왔는지 출신을 알 수 없는 개가 가족에게 나쁜 영향을 미칠지도 모른다고 생각한 때문이다. 그러나 난살은 아버지의 말을 따를 수가 없다. 다른 캠프로 이주해가는 날 그들 가족과 개의 인연의 꼴이 밝혀질 것이다. 이 영화의 주 플롯인 개와 엮인 그들 가족의 이야기 하부에는 윤회와 환생에 관한 사상이 깔려 있다. 윤회에 대한 그들의 믿음은 생명에 대한 존중심을 가르쳐줬지만 한편으로 인간 아닌 생명체에 대한 두려움도 갖게 만들었다. 그러나 그 두려움조차 배타적인 성격의 것은 아니었다. 인간으로 다시 태어나는 일이 힘든 만큼 훌륭한 인간으로 살기 위해 노력하는 그들은 지상에서 가장 깨끗하고 숭고한 영혼을 가진 존재들이기 때문이다. 아무런 필터도 거치지 않은 듯한 이 영화의 다큐멘터리적인 시선은 그 존재들의 삶의 방식을 사랑스럽게 바라본다. 드라마틱한 서사나, 특별한 사건도 없이 흥미진진한 시선을 유지할 수 있었던 것도 그 때문일 것이다. 두 명의 어른이 세 아이와 엄청난 양의 이삿짐과 수십 마리의 양을 끌고 이주해가는 마지막 장면은 그 자체로 경이롭다. 까맣게 그을은 차돌맹이 같은 아이들의 얼굴을 바라보는 것만으로도 즐거운 [동굴에서 나온 누렁개]는 비암바수렌 다바아 감독이 카메라로 쓴 하나의 뛰어난 인류학적 보고서다.

Bilike has never seen a ping-pong ball before. He and his family live without electricity and running water in a solitary tent home among the vast steppe grasslands. The magnificent landscape here has changed little since the days of Genghis Kahn. But life in the middle of nowhere can be exciting for a young boy. The smallest of details become big events for curious Bilike and his best friends Erguotou and Dawa. The mystery of the small white ball floating in the creek leads to questions about the world around them, as well as innocent mischief.

My Beautiful Jinjiimaa is an emotional romantic drama in a setting few in the U.S. have ever seen. A deaf woman, Jinjiimaa, is raped by the local party Chairman, and shoots her attacker. Her lifelong friend, lame farmer Sukhee, goes to prison for six years for Jinjimaa’s crime. The film begins with his return, where Sukhee and Jinjiimaa meet—each with a secret.

Sam is a vagabond who wanders through the city; trapped by a strong sense of inadequacy, he will meet various characters in a semi-surreal journey. Inspired by "Notes from the Underground" written by Fedor Dostoevskij.

During their journeys they are able to solve a crime and recover the valuable painting of missis Frou Hetbert. Summer ends, and it's time to look for a place to spend the winter. Oscar and Rasmus arrive at the farm of a good hostess, Martina...

구여장(유영)은 무술 대결 중 장군의 외아들을 죽이는 실수를 하여, 아버지께 다신 무술을 하지 않을 것을 약조하고 집을 떠난다. 방랑 생활 중 만난 심노흑과의 약속을 지키기 위해 그의 가족을 찾아가고 숙식을 받으며 금전적 도움을 준다. 구여장은 그곳에 무술 시합이 열린다는 사실을 알고서도 무술인임을 숨기고 조용히 살기 위해 노력한다. 그러나 그 시합을 둘러싼 음모에 구여장의 주변 사람들이 휘말리자 구여장은 큰 고민에 빠진다

A struggling band find themselves attached to a fugitive and drawn into a series of old feuds and love affairs, as they try to stay together and find musical success.

A repressed housewife is plunged into erotic ecstasy by the arrival of a handsome groundskeeper. At a remote lake, she is encouraged by the groundskeeper and his lover to explore her deepest sexual desires.

고비사막을 건너온 감동적이고 따뜻한 이야기. 몽골 남부의 고비사막. 한 유목민 가족의 낙타 한 마리가 새끼를 출산한다. 그런데, 출산과정이 너무 힘들었던 탓인지, 어미 낙타는 새끼를 멀리 한다. 새끼를 살려야 하는 유목민 가족은 마지막 방법으로 몽골의 전통악기 연주자를 불러다가 어미에게 들려준다. 그리고, 신기하게도 어미 낙타는 눈물을 흘리면서 새끼를 받아들인다.

미국을 휩쓴 대공황이 절정을 이루던 1933년 뜻하지 않게 실직을 하게 되고 집과 머물 곳을 찾아 다니는 부랑자들이 도처에 생겨나게 되었다. 이들은 달리는 기차에 무임승차를 하며 미국 전역을 돌아다녔다. 호보라고 불리우는 이 부랑자들 중에는 에이 넘버원이라는 인물이 있는데 그는 부랑자들 사이에서 북극의 황제라고 불리우며 기차 무임승차에 관한 한 귀신같은 솜씨를 갖고 있다. 한편,19번 열차에는 샤크라는 악명높은 차장이 상주하며 무임승차를 하는 사람들을 발견하여 잔인하게 죽이기 까지 한다. 어느날, 에이 넘버원은 무임승차를 하려 기차에 뛰어드는데 이를 본 시가렛이라는 젊은청년이 뒤에 따라 기차에 오른다. 그때문에 샤크에게 발각된 에이 넘버원은 동물 후송용 기차칸에 시가렛과 함께 갇히는 신세가 된다. 쓴 웃음을 짖으며 아래를 내려다 보는 샤크, 그러나 에이 넘버원은 여유있게 자신이 갖힌 칸에 불을 지르고 탈출하게 되는데.

뉴욕의 밤 거리, 화려한 원색의 옷을 입은 렌이 지하철과 클럽을 돌아다니며 밴드를 할 사람을 찾고 있다. 한편, 작은 밴에서 먹고 자는 가난한 청년 폴이 우연히 렌을 만나 관심을 갖는다. 수잔 세이들먼 감독의 장편 데뷔작으로 언뜻 신나고 화려해 보이는 당시 청년 문화의 이면에 자리 잡은 공허와 외로움을 날카롭게 포착했다. 1982년 칸영화제 경쟁부문 상영작. (2019년 제14회 시네바캉스 서울)

The story about Jimmy Barka, a young vagabond who works as a seasonal worker. Having been sacked from the job, his dreams are to become a singer. As most of the things in the Balkans happen, he is destined to failure.

Irish director John T Davis stashes a camera in his bedroll, catches out, and rides the rails from Minneapolis to Seattle with Beargrease, a part-time hobo and full time philosopher, who narrates their way through the incredible scenery of the Northwest and gives us his views on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The pair meet up several other men living life on the margins: in particular a scene in which Duffy - an ex-corporate executive now living under a bridge in Spokane & collecting cans - describes how he got there is riveting.
