Acquired in July 1909 by art collector Wilhelm von Bode (1845-1929), director general of the Prussian Art Collections and founding director of the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum, now the Bode-Museum, the Bust of Flora, Roman goddess of flowers, has been the subject of controversy for more than a century. Von Bode, under pressure from the German Kaiser Wilhelm II, argued that the wax sculpture was created by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519).

서베를린 미 관할 지역, 동베를린에서 피아니스트 빅터 바제브스키가 극적으로 탈출한다. 첩보원 해리 파머는 베를린 지역으로 파견 나온 KGB의 스탁 대령의 망명 책임을 맡게 된다. 위조여권을 지니고 베를린으로 향한 파머는 영문도 모른 채 체포된다. 그를 기다라는 것은 스탁 대령. 의심을 피하기 위해 파머를 체포한 후 접선을 한 스탁 대령은 망명하고 싶다는 의사를 전달하고 조건을 내세운다. 완벽한 탈출계획을 위해 오트 크루츠만과 작업하기를 원한다.
파머는 크루츠만과 접선하기 위해 친구에게 부탁을 하지만, 일이 꼬이면 변사체로 발견될 것이라는 경고를 듣게 된다. 그때 우연을 가장해 파머에게 접근하는 사만다 스틸. 파머는 그녀의 유혹에 빠져들지만, 동시에 그녀의 정체를 알기 위한 계획에 착수한다.

Helmut studies, literature and politics in his home town and have a relationship with another girl from his former school, now studying medicine at the same university but they break up after having an affair with her roommate. Helmut begins a lot of short affairs with different women but still searches for his first girl.
