스페인의 이비자 섬에는 희대의 사기꾼 2명이 있다. 세잔느와 르누아르의 모조화를 단숨에 그릴 수 있는 호리와, 호리의 전기를 쓰는 어빙이 바로 그들. 어빙은 이전에 하워드 휴즈의 가짜 전기를 쓴 게 밝혀지지만, 무엇이 진실인지는 알 수가 없다. 허버트 조지 웰스의 소설 <우주 전쟁>을 실제 상황 보도를 가장한 라디오 드라마로 만들어 미국을 충격의 도가니에 몰아넣었던 오슨 웰스가 다시 시도한 페이크 다큐멘터리 형식의 영화로, 편집을 통해 피카소가 오야 코다르를 훔쳐보는 듯한 장면을 연출해 냈다. 파블로 피카소가 ‘예술은 하나의 거짓말이다’라고 이야기 한 데에, 웰스는 ‘진실을 이해하기 위한 거짓말이다’라고 덧붙였다. 프랑수아 트뤼포는 이 작품의 편집이 특별하며 다큐멘터리와 같은 형식을 통해 시적인 느낌을 전달한다고 했다.

When it comes to crime, Belgrade is same as any other modern metropolis, except for having its own serial killers. That blank is filled when a flower salesman begins strangling women. A popular, but very disturbed rock star soon becomes telepathically connected with the killer.

Dwight Dawson, who runs an unsuccessful success school, stages a contest to find the biggest failure in the USA, for publicity value when the "dope" takes his course. But winner Tad Page is contented with his idle, lazy life and threatens to convert Dawson's other students to his philosophy. Dawson captalizes on Tad's attraction to Claire Harris to win him over; but will Tad find out Claire is really engaged to Dawson?

A young reporter girl nicknamed Cream Pie writes an article on money-making in small businesses. She meets a married shoemaker who falls for her and steals his wife's money for their love nest, but Cream Pie discovers it by accident and takes it to the newspapers' office. Shoemaker's wife interferes into this whole confusion and the whole fuss resolves at a hospital.

A group of people are recruited by the brain of a band of robbers to commit the theft of some gold bars. Each character has a particular problem why he needs the money, but all are pretty sloppy.
