공장에서 일하며 혼자 사는 앙투안은 오페라나 클래식음악을 즐긴다. 베를리오즈 음악 과정을 듣던 앙투안은 귀여운 소녀 콜레트를 보고 첫눈에 반한다. 그녀의 화목한 가족들은 앙투안을 식구처럼 대하지만, 그에 대한 콜레트의 감정은 애매모호하다. 안제이 바이다, 렌조 로셀리니 등과 함께 작업한 옴니버스영화 중 한 작품. <400번의 구타>의 앙투안이 17세가 되어 돌아왔으며, 그의 이야기는 로 이어진다. (2012 부산 영화의 전당 - 프랑수아 트뤼포 전작전)

We witness a rooftop chess match between Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray, a hearse pulled by a camel (and chased by its pallbearers) and a dizzying roller coaster finale.
