Victor Sluzhkin signs on as a teacher of geography in a secondary school in his native Perm (in the Urals) and gets lost in a haze of hard vodka, desperate love for a nymphet-like student and the stress of educating teenagers. Geographer, as the students immediately dub Sluzhkin, attempts to escape from the grueling, dull, stultifying reality of Russia's provincial life in a rafting tour to the Urals. Accompanied by wild, adventure-seeking adolescents, faced with the numerous grim surprises of the nature, Geographer is poised to find himself and his own truth.

(2021년 제6회 울주세계산악영화제) 연출의도 2012년 에베레스트 등반 시즌을 취소한 어느 탐험대의 결정이 이 다큐멘터리를 시작하게 된 계기였다. 그해 셰르파 3명을 포함하여 11명의 등반가가 사망했다.
서아프리카의 세계 최빈국 기니(Guinea)의 천만 인구 중 80%는 전기를 사용할 수 없다. 전기를 사용하는 도중에도 정전이 자주 발생해 사람들과 학생들은 곤욕을 치른다. 밤에 공부하고 싶어도 전기가 없는 아이들은 도심 속 빛을 찾아 공항, 주유소, 터미널 등에 삼삼오오 모여든다. 불빛을 찾아서 집에서 5km 이상 떨어져있는 곳도 걸어 다니며 길거리에서 잠을 청하기도 한다. 기니에서 교육은 삶의 희망이자 한 줄기의 빛이다. 한 교사는 기니에서는 꿈을 이루는데 한계가 있음을 느끼지만 힘들게 공부하는 아이들을 측은해하며 아이들을 가르치는 일에 자긍심을 느낀다. 밤에는 도로에 나와 공부하고 아침에 지쳐있는 학생들의 사연도 저마다 다양하다. 한 집의 가장이자 집안일을 도맡아 하는 첫째 아들은 새엄마 눈치도 보느라 항상 머리 속이 복잡하다. 한 여학생은 자신이 결혼 전까지 교육을 마칠 수 있을지 의문이다. Considered a ground-breaking film in its native Guinea, and filmed amidst a storm of controversy, Mohamed Camara's Dakan is the first of its nations films to directly address issues surrounding homosexuality. The story centers on the romance between two 20-year-old men, Manga and Sory who are first seen making out in a car. The trouble begins when Manga tells his widowed mother about his love for Sory, who is busy contending with his outraged father. The parents insist that the two never see each other again. Manga's mother then uses witchcraft to cleanse her son and change him into a heterosexual. Time passes and eventually Manga begins to date a girl. But it soon becomes apparent that try as he might, Manga's heart belongs to Sory.
