자메이카 출신인 ‘밥 말리’는 레게음악의 전설이자 대표적인 싱어 송 라이터이다. 1945년 2월6일 자메이카의 한 작은 마을에서 태어난 그는 17세 때 첫 녹음을 시작하며 뮤지션으로 데뷔했다. 그 다음해인 1963년 그는 버니 리빙스턴, 피터 토시와 함께 ‘웨일러스’라는 그룹을 결성했다. 밥 말리의 음악 세계를 이해하기 위해서 빼놓을 수 없는, 흑인 해방 사상을 표방한 신흥 종교인 라스타파리안교(Rastafarian)에 깊은 감명을 받는다. 웨일러스 활동을 하던 중 밥 말리는 1972년 영국의 레코드사와 계약을 하면서 본격적으로 자신의 이름이 전 세계에 알리기 시작한다.

Recorded in California at the Santa Barbara County Bowl, this live concert appearance from Bob Marley and the Wailers was filmed on November 25, 1979. One of the last shows to be recorded before Marley's untimely demise, the gig is a scintillating mix of reggae classics and provides a fitting epitaph to the influential musician. Tracks include "I Shot the Sheriff," "Exodus," "Is This Love" and many more.

Forty years ago, Bob Marley embarked on a tour of Europe and the United States with The Wailers in support of their Uprising album. The 38-show excursion would be the last for the reggae icon, who succumbed to cancer on May 11, 1981. Marley & The Wailers brought the run to Dortmund, Germany on June 13, 1980 and the concert was filmed for the German live music television program Rockpalast.

The Amandla Festival of Unity was a world music festival held at Harvard Stadium in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 21, 1979. The festival was held in an effort to support and celebrate the liberation of South Africa and the on-going efforts of people in Boston to address racism in their families, schools, workplaces and communities. Performers include soul legend Patti LaBelle, jazz pianist Eddie Palmieri, drummer Babatunde Olatunji, the South African band Jabula and comedian Dick Gregory, who gives a 15-minute racially-charged speech before Marley’s performance.

Bob Marley and the Wailers entered the newly refurbished Tuff Gong Studios on May 1, 1980 to rehearse songs for the upcoming Uprising tour which starts June 1, 1980 in München, Germany. A film crew is at the rehearsal to film footage for a JBC documentary on Bob Marley and Tuff Gong. Much of the rehearsal was captured on film, and it has become legendary footage.

Over the years, few video documents have been issued about one of reggae's most popular and enduring bands, Toots & the Maytals. With their slinky and extremely danceable rhythms and passionate concert performances, the outfit has long been one of reggae's top live acts. Released in 2001, the Live DVD is a fine document of the latter-day Toots & the Maytals live experience, recorded in front of a large and receptive crowed at the Santa Monica Pier in California on August 7, 1997. Featuring ten tracks overall and clocking in at an hour, Live features stirring renditions of many of the group's best-known tracks, including such highlights as "Pomps and Pride," "Funky Kingston," "Monkey Man," and "54-46 Was My Number," among others.

This punk-infused documentary by the Newsreel Collective invites young working class Londoners to discuss their experiences of racism. First and second generation Black and Asian immigrants, as well as ex-National Front members, paint a detailed picture of discrimination in 1970s Britain. The film uses lo-fi animation, archive footage and a pulsating soundtrack to compare racial inequality in London to Britain's colonial 'divide and rule' policy, European fascism and the rise of Nazi Germany.

1823년 눈보라치는 밤, 한 노인이 자살을 시도하다 실패하고 신부에게 자신의 죄를 고백한다. 비엔나 왕실의 궁정음악가 살리에리는 새롭게 떠오르는 천재 작곡가 모차르트의 소문을 듣고 그의 천재성을 확인하려 한다. 모차르트가 그의 약혼녀를 범하고 오만하고 방탕한 생활을 거듭하자 그러한 모차르트에게 천재성을 부여한 신을 저주하고 그를 증오하기 시작한다. 한편 빈곤과 병마로 시달리던 모차르트는 자신이 존경하던 아버지의 죽음에 커다란 충격을 받고 자책감에 시달린다. 살리에리는 이를 이용해 모차르트가 아버지의 환상에 시달리도록 하면서 진혼곡의 작곡을 부탁하는데...

1973년, 샌 디에이고 고등학교를 다니는 15세의 윌리암 밀러(패트릭 후지트 분)는 엄마 엘라인(프랜시스 맥도먼드 분)와 함께 살고 있다. 가출한 누나 아니타가 놓고 간 락 레코드를 들으며 자란 윌리암은 친구들과 어울리지 못하는 괴짜이며, 레드 제플린, 페이시스, 더 후, 험블 파이 등의 명 그룹들의 음악만이 유일한 벗이다. 학교 신문에 음악평을 기고했다가 우연한 기회에 록 매거진의 편집장인 록 비평의 선구자 레스터 뱅스(필립 세이모어 호프먼 분)와 친해진 윌리암은 최고 인기의 락그룹 블랙 사바스와 인터뷰할 수 있는 기회를 가지게 된다. 사바스의 공연무대 뒷편에서 \\\'스틸워터(Stillwater)\\\'를 만나 색다른 감동을 느낀 그는 허풍을 쳐서 롤링 스톤즈에서 요청한 스틸워터 그룹의 전국투어 기사를 쓸 수 있는 기회를 얻는다. 그렇게 윌리암은 어머니의 암묵적 허락하에 밴드의 투어에 합류한다. 투어 도중 윌리암은 밴드의 리드 기타리스트로 인기 급부상중인 러셀 하몬드(빌리 크루덥 분)와 친분을 쌓고, 스틸워터의 열광적인 팬인 페니 레인(케이트 허드슨 분)과 사랑에 빠진다. 하지만 러셀을 질투라는 리드 싱어 제프 베베(제이슨 리 분)와 러셀 사이에 팽팽한 긴장감과 사랑하는 페니가 유부남 러셀과 자신보다 더 가까운 관계라는 사실을 알게되는 등, 윌리암이 맞딱드린 것은 자신이 동경하던 이들의 진실과 마주하면서 겪는 고통과 좌절이었다.
