Biloxi Babes (1988)

2차대전 중, 작가지망생 유진 제롬은 빌록시 신병훈련소에서 훈련을 받게 된다. 엡 스테인을 포함하여 같이 들어간 동료들이 모두 한 중대에 배속되고 지옥의 사자같은 냉혈한 투미 중사가 중대 선임이 되어 중대원들은 혹독한 시련을 당한다. 10주간 훈련병 생활을 하면서 제롬은 동료들의 성격을 하나씩 하나씩 냉철하게 파악하고 그것을 모조리 일기에 기록해 놓지만 그 일기 때문에 큰 곤경을 당하게 되는데...

실화를 근거로 한 이 영화는 1967년 8월 27일부터 시작된다. 베트남 전쟁이 한참이던 때에 각지에서 젊은이들이 해병대로 지원해온다. 타이런 워싱턴(Tyrone Washington: 스탠 쇼 분), 빌리 레이 파이크(Billy Ray Pike: 앤드류 스티븐스 분), 엘빈 포스터(Alvin Foster: 제임스 캐닝 분), 비니 파지오(Vinnie Fazio: 마이클 렘벡 분), 데이브 비즈비(Dave Bisbee: 크레이그 왓슨 분) 등이 중심이 된 C중대는 2달동안의 훈련을 마치고 베트남의 다낭에 파견된다. 각자의 개성을 지니고 전쟁과 싸워나가는 동안 팀웍의 중요성을 깨닫게 되고 그러는중에 하나씩 전우들은 죽어가는 것이다. 베트남군과의 친목 도모를 위한 축구대회가 개최되는데 베트남군의 사기를 위해 그 경기에서 져주라고 요구한다. 이에 화가 난 C중대 병사들은 자신들의 명예를 걸고 열심히 시합에 임하여 그 시합에서 승리를 거두고 상관의 명령에 불복종한 이유로 최전방으로 가게 된다.

Don Bolton is a movie star who can't stand loud noises. To evade the draft, he decides to get married...but falls for a colonel's daughter. By mistake, he and his two cronies enlist. In basic training, Don hopes to make a good impression on the fair Antoinette and her father, but his military career is largely slapstick. Will he ever get his corporal's stripes?

U.S. Marine Sergeant O'Hara has his hands full training raw recruits, one of whom, 'Skeets' Burns, is a particular thorn in his side. If Burns's lackadaisical approach to the military were not bad enough, he also makes advances on nurse Nora Dale, whom Sergeant O'Hara secretly loves. Nora is oblivious to O'Hara's feelings and is attracted to the handsome 'Skeet.' But an indiscretion turns her against him, and it takes an expedition to China and a battle with a warlord's bandit brigade to sort things out among the nurse and her two Marines.

Four recruits arrive at Kimberley station to undergo training at the local army camp. Soutie, Liebling, Tiny and PP soon become friends as they are put through their paces by the sergeant. They all volunteer for border duty, where they are joined by Chico, a black tracker, and are sent out on patrol. After they come upon a murdered farm family, their radio is destroyed by enemy fire and they are required to find their way back to base camp. In the ensuing skirmishes some of them perish.

In a humorous report, "Strife" magazine follows a bear who gets drafted and goes through the rigors of Army basic training.

An Oklahoma National Guard unit, comprised mainly of Native Americans, is called up for duty at the start of World War II.

As they undergo 12 weeks of intensive training, a group of young civilians is gradually moulded into soldiers. The Basic Training, a prerequisite for joining the Canadian Armed Forces, becomes the gateway to exploring the inner workings of a world governed by its own rules and values.
