Just as Christmas in Hollywood is starting to look glum, three darling pets discover an opportunity to make some extra money by entering a singing contest. Cuz, Dude and Rosie must battle the streets of Hollywood to make their way to the contest, in hopes of winning the $1,000 first prize.

매년 찾아오는 스노글랙토그 축제를 앞둔 '버크섬'의 바이킹 마을, 하지만 갑자기 모든 드래곤이 일순간 어디론가 날아가버린다. 마을 주민들은 드래곤들 없이 축제를 준비한다. 한편, 히컵은 혼자서는 날수 없는 '투슬리스'를 위해 스스로 날수 있는 보형물을 만들어 선물하였지만, '투슬리스' 또한 날개를 달자마자 또한 하늘로 날아가버린다. 히컵은 마을에 남아있던 피시레그스의 드래곤과 함께 '투슬리스'를 찾아 떠나고 마침내 도착한 곳에서 놀라운 광경을 목격한다.
방송국 사장인 프랭크(Frank Cross: 빌 머레이 분)는 돈만을 생각하는 사람, 그에게 크리스마스란 특집방송으로 돈 벌수 있는 기회일 뿐이다. 특집쇼 기획 회의에서 직원을 가볍게 해고하는 그에게, 7년전에 죽은 시체가 찾아와 유령의 방문을 예고한다. 어린 시절과 일 때문에 사랑하는 여인을 떠나보냈던 청년 시절을 회상시켜주는 택시기사 유령, 가족과 애정을 일깨워주는 요정, 미래의 처참한 장례식으로 데려가는 괴물 유령이 차례로 그를 방문한다. 미래까지 갖다온 프랭크는 인간에게 가장 소중한 것이 관심과 사랑임을 깨닫게 된다.

When Kris grows up, he wants to deliver toys to the children of Sombertown. But its Mayor is too mean to let that happen.
