Two Argentine sisters, Memé and Aneta, lose their mother in a car crash. Memé, the elder, is also left lame with one badly scarred leg. The orphaned girls go to Uruguay to stay with their aunts. The sisters often bicker, but they are actually very close. Memé flirts but has no luck with boys because of her injury... On their own now, Memé works as a waitress where she gets to know Andy. Returning to Montevideo, they meet Dolores, a friend of their late mother. Memé's affair with a man complicates her relationship with her sister. Then Andy invites the pair to his seaside retreat, a lighthouse.

Six years before this story begins, Rosemonde killed a would-be rapist. She was acquitted and returned to working part-time in a Geneva bar. Back in the present, a brand new television station seeks to create a television film about Rosemonde's life. The project is helmed by independent producer Kevin assigns his screen-writing pal Paul to interview Rosemonde and use it for the basis of a fictionalized teleplay. Unfortuantely for him, the taciturn and cynical barmaid wants nothing to do with project and refuses to speak to Paul. This satirical French-Swiss drama follows Paul as he simultaneously attempts to get her story and into her bed. Since Rosemonde refuses to speak to him, Paul decides to pay his ex-lover Marie, a serious stage actress, become the bar maid's friend.

청나라말 - 서세동점의 시기. 마영정(금성무 분)은 산동의 가뭄을 피해 형 대상(원화 분)과 함께 상해로 상경한다. 마영정은 형과 함께 부두의 막노동을 하던 중 상해 암흑가 최대의 실력가인 담사(원표 분)와 결투를 벌이게 되고, 마영정의 큰 됨됨이를 한눈에 알아본 담사는 그에게 호의를 배푼다. 영국인들의 비호를 받는 담사파와 중국 경찰과 결탁한 양쌍(원덕 분)파가 양대 산맥을 이루고 세력을 키워가고 있었다. 양쌍은 비열하고 잔인한 인물로서 담사를 제거하고 상해를 자신의 손아귀에 넣으려고 기회를 호시탐탐 노리고 있다. 마영정은 담사의 정부 염양천(주가령 분)이 운영하는 일호춘 클럽에서 여가수 금령자(선선 분)를 보고 첫눈에 사랑에 빠진다. 마영정은 금령자의 밀회를 약속하지만 우연히 양쌍이 담사를 제거하려는 음모를 엿듣게 되어 담사를 구하러 떠나고 사연을 모르는 금령자는 실연의 상처를 안은채 그녀의 삼촌(원규 분)과 함께 상해를 떠난다. 뛰어난 무예와 기지로 담사의 생명을 구한 마영정은 이로 인해 담사의 중간보스로 성장한다. 담사는 마영정에게 일호춘 클럽을 넘겨주려 하지만 마영정은 스스로 자신의 영역을 만들어야 한다는 신념으로 그 제의를 거절한다. 한편 담사의 신의를 통해 마영정은 그들의 조직에서뿐만 아니라 상해에서 서서히 명성을 날리게 된다. 양쌍의 구역인 청운구를 차지한 마영정은 그 세력을 키워간다.
