Another planet in the period of medieval times. An employee of the institute of experimental history from Earth, who is send under the name of noble don Rumata of Estor as a spy with a mission to contact the local resident of the institute, arrives in the city of Arkanar. But the resident perishes under an unlucky attempt to make a palace coup, and Rumata have to take his place as the resident. Soon he meets all the horrors of the medieval society - a peasant war, palace coups, mass executions. 유태계 그리이스인인 젊은 복서 살라모(윌리암 데포 분)는 아버지, 어머니, 동생 아브람, 그리고 누 줄리와 함께 넉넉한 살림은 아니어도 그리이스의 작은 항구도시에서 평화롭게 살면서 친구 자코와 어릴적부터 함께 권투를 배우며 자라왔다. 장래 세계 챔피언을 꿈꾸며 지역 미들급 챔피언 자닐 따나는 등 상당한 촉망 받는 젊은 권투선수이기도 하다. 그러나 나찌 독일군이 그리이스를 점령하면서 모든 상황은 갑자기 바뀐다. 친구 자코는 저항군에 가담하게 되고 그로 인해 자코의 가족은 독일군한테 사살된다. 모든 유태인들이 독일군을 피해 숨어 살게 되고 그 와중에도 살라모는 애인인 알레그라와 어두운 극장에서 몰래 만나 데이트를 즐긴다. 그러나 그것도 잠시뿐이었고 곧 살라모의 가족을 위시하여 알레그라의 가족 등 모든 유태인들이 독일군에 체포되어 강제로 기차에 실려 아우슈비쯔로 끌려간다. 아우슈비쯔수용소로 끌려간 모든 유태인들은 남녀로 나뉘어 인간이하의 대접을 받으며 강제로 노동에 시달린다. 그 와중에 작업 도중 죄수 감독관과 우연히 시비가 붙어 싸움을 벌이게 된 살라모는 뛰어난 권투 솜씨로 상대방을 때려 뉘고, 그것이 독일군 장교 라우셰의 눈에 띄어 죽음의 시합을 벌여야 하는 권투선수가 된다. 그러나 살라모는 모는 선수들을 다 물리치고 영원한 승자로 군림한다. 그러던 어느날 죽은 죄수들의 시체를 소각하는 일에 차출된 동생 아브람은 차마 인간 이하의 짓을 할 수가 없어 작업을 거부하다 죽음을 당하고 ...

A young penniless woman comes to a small town with her newborn baby. She goes to work but because her child has no father, life is hard for her. Until she meets a carefree vagabond photographer willing to help her out.

About a sound designer for films who years ago, while in bed with his mistress, failed to respond to calls for help outside his door. Now during the recording of the audio track for a new film he begins to hear strange noises on his headphones.

Lavish romantic melodrama, obsessively concerned with sex. Maryska's husband is off to war. A young, idealistic poet, turns his back on civilization and goes to small, backwood village, rents a bed in the house of an old woman, and decides to make his living as a lumberjack. Soon he realizes that the world around him is far from perfect.

Set in military barracks in a small town during World War I. The soldiers herded in the barracks are 'politically suspect' mix of characters from all over of the Austro-Hungarian Empire: Czechs, Jews, and even Italians, but officers in charge are Germans. A new lieutenant arrives with the mission to bring order to the unit. He is the sadist, enjoying humiliating the men. Fed up with his behaviour the lower ranks kidnap him one night and string him up in a public toilet. They also make sure that he fouls up during the inspection. Eventually the five ring leaders are imprisoned. They escape and end up in Budapest posing as guards as guards of veterinary surgeons. They are caught and sent back to face a court martial and their old tormentor.

As the Germans invade Poland Jewish Ruth and her mother are trapped by the oncoming Nazis. When they are loaded onto a truck for transportation to a ghetto, Ruth is told by her mother to jump from the truck at the first chance and to make her way to relatives in Warsaw. While the war progresses Ruth tries to survive and grow up.
