조정의 금이 사라지고 이 금을 되찾기 위해 포정의(백표 분) 일행이 파견된다. 한편 개방파의 방주(양가인 분)도 습격을 받고 이 사건의 배후에 무언가가 심상치 않음을 간파한다. 용의자 한 명을 죽이자 그의 딸은 아버지 복수를 위해 일행을 쫓아온다. 포정의 일행은 계속되는 공격을 받아 부하들이 죽어나간다. 이 모든 배후에는 여자의 피로 내공을 쌓고 있는 모산도인(황정리 분)이 있었다. 서로 힘을 합치게 된 개방방주와 포정의는 모산도인을 공격하나 엄청난 내공을 이미 쌓은 그에게 상대가 되지 못한다. 포정의 일행을 쫓아왔던 여인이 포정의의 칼로 자신의 몸을 관통, 모산도인을 찔러 대결은 끝이 난다.

무술의 고수인 풍대인이 화우빈(성룡 분)과 공모해서 궁중의 7가지 보물을 훔쳐내서로 나눠 가진 후 화우빈이 갖고 있는 보물도 전부 뺏기 위해 딸 풍월아를 화우빈과 혼인시켜 보물을 숨긴 곳을 알아내려 한다. 화우빈이 아내에게 보물이 있는 곳을 알려주지 않자, 화우부인은 그에게 독약이 든 보양탕을 먹여 중독시키려 하고, 그 사실을 눈치챈 화우빈은 갖고 있는 해독제를 뺏기 위해 천하의 협객 메이의 도움을 청한다. 한편, 궁중의 보물을 도둑맞은 후 범인이 잡히지 않자, 무술과 계략의 고수인 당상관 풍대인이 그 사건을 맡게 된다. 풍대인은 화우빈에게 죄를 다 뒤집어씌우려고 의협 메이의 도움을 청하면서 자신의 딸 풍월아와 혼인시킨다. 풍대인에게 고용된 메이(왕우 분)는 화우빈을 도와주는 척하면서 화우빈과 그 부인을 조사하는데, 화우부인은 메이가 해독제가 든 상자를 뺏으러 올 줄 알고 가짜 상자를 준비해둔다. 가짜 약 상자를 받은 화우빈은 해독제 안에 든 독약을 먹고 죽은 척 가장한다. 그가 정말 죽은 줄 알고 풍대인과 풍월아가 나타나자 메이는 풍월아와 화우부인이 동일 인물이며, 모든 게 궁중보물을 독차지하기 위한 풍대인의 계략이었음을 깨닫고 유성검으로 처치한다. 풍대인이 죽자 죽은 척 가장했던 화우빈이 나타나 궁중보물에 얽힌 사실을 모두 털어놓고 메이와 대결을 벌이다 그 역시 메이의 마지막 유성검을 맞고 숨진다. 사건 해결 도중 많은 사람들이 희생됐음을 아쉬워하며 떠나는 메이 앞에 풍월아의 심복으로 있었던 봉소저가 나타나 과거의 잘못을 뉘우치며 사모하는 마음을 보이자, 그녀에게 연정을 품고 있었던 메이도 관대하게 봉소저를 받아들인다.

Great independent Kung Fu movie with James Nam, of 5 finger of death playing the good guy. Much like some of the better American Westerns of the 50's and 60's. Some very poignant scenes in this film, highly recommended!

Tien Yua, most well known for being the bad guy in Wang Yu films, especially the One Armed Boxer is the good guy here. Frankie Wei is in it as his rival. This is a rare film.
