Rokia
암흑가가 된 카사블랑카. 더는 노래를 할 수 없게 된 록커 라르센은 교통사고 현장에서 만난 성노동자 라자와 사랑에 빠진다. 둘은 트라우마를 공유하고 함께 노래하면서 카사블랑카를 벗어나자는 꿈을 갖는다. 사랑의 불길이 치솟을수록 라자를 가두려는 포주 사이드의 그림자도 짙어진다. 엘 이라키의 장편 데뷔작은 로큰롤의 리듬을 지닌 멜로드라마다. 카사블랑카를 횡단하면서 리얼리즘과 장르 영화가 줄 수 있는 즐거움을 동시에 잡으려는 신인의 패기가 돋보인다. 감독은 쾌활하지만 때로는 애틋한 톤으로 이 커플을 응원한다. 1970년대의 모로코 록, 스파게티 웨스턴, 스멀거리는 독사 등의 이미지들을 보여주면서 한치 앞도 예측할 수 없는 긴장감을 만든다. 이 명멸하는 이미지들은 모로코가 지닌 사회적 트라우마를 드러낸다.
