Alfred Pariser

A father brings a young child to an emergency room to get treatment for a minor injury occurring in an innocent accident, but he gets accused of child abuse. Child welfare agencies commit grossly unfair over-reactions to remove the child forcibly from the Father, who must brave the arcane system to reclaim his daughter.

After the death of her daughter, wealthy housewife Julia Lofting abruptly leaves her husband and moves into an old Victorian home in London to re-start her life. All seems well until she is haunted by the sadness of losing her own child and the ghosts of other children.

영국에서 미국으로 이민온 조디 포스터는 시인인 아버지와 같이 살고 있다. 어머니는 아버지와 이혼한 상태이다. 조디 포스터가 살고있는 집은 3년간 임대한 집인데 집주인은 마을에서 유명한 부동산 소유자이고, 그녀에게는 어린 소녀를 추행하려다 검거 되었던 아들이 있다. 아버지와 살고 있다고는 했지만 마을 사람 어느 누구도 조디 포스터의 아버지를 직접 본 사람이 없다. 이를 사람들이 수상히 여기지만 어린 조디가 영악하게 거짓말을 하면서 아무 이상없이 지내오게 된는데...

아파트에 살고 있는 한 과학자가 한 소녀를 잔인하게 살해하고 그녀의 내장을 헤집어 놓고 그 역시 자살한다. 수사가 진행되는 동안 한 의사는 과학자가 유전공학 기술로 기생충을 이식하는 실험 중이었다는 사실을 알아낸다. 곧 다른 사람들에게 기생충이 옮은 표시가 하나씩 나타나기 시작한다.
