크리스는 미국의 대학생이다. 그녀는 유럽에 주둔 중인 미국군인 애인을 만나러 간다. 그러나 그곳에서 애인과 불화가 생겨 싸운다. 그녀의 애인이 결혼을 보류하자고 했기 때문이다. 그 와중에 그녀는 미국 CIA 요원으로 오인돼 동구권 스파이에게 납치되고 고문에 못이겨 허위 자백을 한다.
