He has to confront the confusing world of adults and older boys and the older girl next door on his own. Finally events build up and threaten to tear the family apart.

Their respective families hold strong – perhaps too strong – opinions on the imminent marriage, and, on the big day, chaos ensues, making the young couple question their own readiness to commit to a union for life. 한 허름한 뒷골목 길에 폭행을 당한 채 쓰려져 있던 조(샬롯 갱스부르)를 중년의 남자 셀리그먼(스텔란 스카스가드)이 그녀를 구해 집으로 데리고 온다. 샐리그먼은 평범한 사람들이 상상할 수 없는 성적 경험을 한 여성 조의 이야기를 듣는다. 샐리그먼은 조의 남성 편력과 성적 체험을 편견 없이 경청한다. 그리고 자신의 문학적, 수학적, 음악적 지식을 동원하여 조의 이야기를 해석한다. 일찍 성에 눈을 뜨고 여성의 성을 실험한 조에게 샐리그먼은 날개가 있는데 날면 좀 어떠냐고 이야기한다. 셀리그먼은 그녀와의 대화 중에 자신의 내부 어딘가에서 뭔가 불이 켜지는 것이 느껴진다.

아름다운 외모와 위트, 당당함을 뽐내며 파티를 즐기던 ‘케이트’(프랭카 포텐테 분). 추파를 던지는 남자들에게도 도도하기만 했던 그녀는 파티장을 나왔지만 택시가 잡히지 않아 지하철을 타기로 한다. 늦은 밤의 한산한 지하철 역에 들어선 ‘케이트’는 파티장에서의 술기운 때문에 깜빡 잠이 드는데... 문득 소스라쳐 깨어보니 모든 문은 잠기고 텅 빈 역엔 그녀 홀로 남겨져 있다. 여긴… 내가 알던 그런 지하철이 아니야! 모든 출입구는 벌써 굳게 잠겨있다. 그러나 다행히 플랫폼으로 지하철이 들어오고 그녀는 그녀는 안도하며 지하철에 뛰어 오른다. 아무도 없는 지하철 안. 왠지 모를 초조함과 불안감을 달래고 있는 순간 갑자기 차가 멈추어 버린다. 설상가상 불이 꺼지고 그녀를 쫓아 파티장부터 따라온 한 남자는 그녀를 강간하려 한다. 온 힘을 다해 저항하던 ‘케이트’. 갑자기 어둠 속의 무언가가 남자를 끌고 가고 처절한 비명소리만 들려 온다. ‘케이트’는 지상으로 나가가 위해 닫혀진 지하철에서 만난 이들과 캄캄한 터널 속을 미친 듯이 달리는데… 밖으로, 밖으로 나가야 해! 길고 어두운 터널을 지나 다음 역의 플랫폼에 도착한 케이트. 출구를 찾다 경비대의 비상통화기를 찾아내지만 막상 경비원은 그녀의 말을 믿지 않는다. 순간 스피커를 통해 들려오는 또 한번의 끔찍한 비명소리.이건 단순한 강도가 아니다. 무언가가 무자비한 살육을 시작했다! 지하철은 터널의 가장 깊은 곳에서 멈춰서고, 늘 지나치기만 하던 터널 안에는 상상도 못할 공간이 존재하고, 그곳에선 잔인한 놀이가 벌어진다. 극도의 공포로 바뀌어 버린 달콤한 귀가에의 예상… 그녀는 살아 남을 수 있을까?

심리학의 권위자 Dr 톤은 사람들을 14일간 임시감옥에 가둬놓고 그들이 어떻게 변해가는가에 대한 실험을 위해 참가자를 모집한다. 임시감옥은 미로와 같으며 곳곳에 카메라를 설치하고 실험자들의 모습을 감시할 수 있다. 연구자들은 이들 사이에 일어나는 일에 개입하지 못하고 관찰만 할 뿐이다. 엄격한 심리테스트를 거쳐 선발된 20명은 전직기자인 택시운전자 타렉, 7년간 한 번도 지각을 해 본적이 없는 항공사 직원 베루스, 엘비스 모창가수 등으로 12명의 죄수와 8명의 간수로 나뉘어 14일간의 역할을 수행하면 된다. 처음엔 즐거웠던 실험이 시간이 지나갈수록 사람들은 진짜 간수와 죄수가 되어 간다. 분위기는 점점 험악해져 금지되었던 폭력이 난무하고 결국 통제할 수 없는 상황이 된다.
