1912년 6월 9일 미국 아이오와 남부 지방에 있는 빌리스카 마을에서 6명이 살던 무어가족의 집에서 두 명의 손님을 포함한 전원이 도끼로 무참하게 머리를 맞고 죽은 시체로 발견되는 사건이 발생했다. 그중 6명은 어린 아이들이었기에 더욱 끔찍한 사건으로 기록되었다. 두 명의 용의자가 있었지만 범인은 밝혀지지 않았다.
