The story begins when Tiarn Tiarn is about to be born. Her father was fighting the demon who has stolen lots of children. Her mother is killed and her father has taken up the fight. 640년 당나라 고승 삼장법사가 손오공과 저팔계, 사오정을 데리고 천축국으로 경문을 가지러 떠난다. 3만 8천리의 먼 거리를 걸어서 여행하는 수난과 고행의 장도였다. 당나라를 떠나 열 네 나라를 지나 1만 1천리를 걸어 자치국에 당도한다. 수천의 스님들이 모두 삼천관이라는 사교의 궁전을 짓는대 동원되어 가혹한 노동을 당하는 것을 삼장법사 일행이 목격한다. 삼장일행은 녹력과 양력이라는 도술사와 비 내리기 시합을 해 손오공이 승리하여 왕에게 인정을 받아 혹사당하는 스님들을 구한다. 녹력과 양력은 삼장일행에게 복수하려고 거미요물인 주청룡과 합세하여 상대하나 손오공에게 역습을 받아 거미요물을 퇴치한다. 이에 녹력과 양력은 백골정이라는 마귀에게 도움을 청한다. 백골정은 여러 가지 변신술로 삼장 일행을 해하고저 하지만 손오공의 심안술에 들켜 실패로 끝나고 삼장일행은 고난의 여행길을 뚫고 천축국을 가지고 돌아온다.

This wartime romantic melodrama set in the mountains of Yilan during the final days of WWII. Young and free-spirited Shiow-lan (Feng Fei-fei) falls in love at first sight with Charng-rong (Liang Hsiu-shen), a worker at her father’s lumber mill. She likes to sing, he likes to write music. With their parents' approval, the two decide to get married but their plans are thwarted by Japanese lieutenant Herng-shan who has set his eyes on Shiow-lan. Herng-shan drafts Charng-rong and sends him to war in Southeast Asia where almost certain death awaits.
