천재 과학자 톰(사샤 로이즈)은 사람의 기억을 살펴볼 수 있는 기계를 발명하고 거대투자자들 앞에서 시연회를 열게 된다. 그러나 시연회 당일 투자자가 교정국 관계자이며 실험 대상자가 살인 혐의로 수감 중인 마약중독자 앤서니(도미닉 보가트)라는 사실을 알게 되고 시연을 하지 않으려 하지만 뱃속에 있는 아기와 사랑하는 아내 생각에 결국 실험을 강행하게 된다. 톰이 기억에서 빠져 나오려 하는 순간 뜻하지 않은 시스템 오작동으로 앤서니의 기억 속에 갇혀 버리게 되는데.. 과연 톰은 앤서니의 기억 속에서 탈출 할 수 있을까?
