Once upon a time, there lived a king, who had everything.

Usually it is us who choose the dog, but sometimes the dog chooses us. By choosing one dog, Aleksandra, Jovana and Marija come into conflict with a criminal gang led by Sergej, a ruthless dealer. Aleksandra's American ID and her fiancee's FBI pass lead the criminals to mistake this for an international operation, and since the local cops are corrupt, the three girls are left with no choice but to take matters in their own hands.

Anna, a young photojournalist from Berlin, travels to Serbia to make a photo documentary about refugees. Upon her arrival to Belgrade, Serbia's capital, Anna finds out that she can't go about her task the way she had planned. Through the cabdriver Dzeki, she meets the distrustful but interesting young refugee Maja who works at a nearby fast food restaurant. Miserable with her life in Serbia, Maja dreams of a new beginning somewhere abroad. In an attempt to successfully finish her project, Anna starts photographing Maja, secretly making a documentary about her. Blinded by the wish to change her life, Maja doesn't realize Anna's true intentions.

A Montenegrin teenager is sent to Serbia in order to evade blood-feud caused by his father's reckless behavior. Little does he know that even greater dangers await for him. In Belgrade he will face both the avengers who went after him and this metropolis' very own nightlife and foxy ladies. And in cities like Belgrade - women and nightlife can be deadlier than a bullet. People of Montenegro are known for their specific mentality and system of values, not unlike Sicilians, Corsicans or Cretans.

대학 동창인 켈리와 루시는 몬테네그로의 아름다운 바닷가로 휴가를 떠난다. 그들은 동창 알렉스, 그의 약혼녀 야스민, 친구 바반과 합류해 한적한 휴가지를 찾던 중, 2차 세계대전 당시 포로 수용소였다가 지금은 폐쇄된 마뮬라 섬으로 투어를 떠나게 된다. 그곳에서 다섯 사람은 토막난 시체를 인어에게 먹이로 주고 있던 한 남자에게 발각돼 목숨을 위협받게 된다. 아름다운 목소리로 유혹하는 인어에게서 도망치던 그들은 이 섬이 전설 속에만 있는 줄 알았던 인어의 은신처라는 사실을 발견하게 된다. 켈리, 루시, 바반, 알렉스와 야스민은 그들의 목숨을 노리는 남자와 치명적인 노래로 유혹하는 식인 인어에게서 달아나 이 무시무시한 섬에서 과연 무사히 빠져나올 수 있을 것인가!

Through the intimate stories of seven young directors, October is the generational attitude towards Serbia today, shown in different perspectives and through different genres - from black comedy to melodrama, poetic portrait to the socially engaged horror. Motif that binds all of the stories together is the tenth anniversary of the democratic revolution. Each film is taking place on that day, 5th of October in 2010, and each film is differently related to the anniversary and what that event means 10 years after. The film brings fresh visions of the seven young directors who were teenagers at the time of the overthrow of president Milosevic and his regime. On a personal and emotional way they show a complex picture of modern Serbia.
