From deciding which type of bottle to use for the chili sauce, long-hidden family conflicts are on the verge of erupting again. Day Off is a crime movie starring Nick Cheung

A boss and his employees take an excursion to Cheung Chou, an island off the coast of Hong Kong. There, the boss meets and courts a young woman, and is completely oblivious of her past. Liu Ah Yee goes to the Bud household to worship the Buddha and to have her fortune told, but Mrs. Bud tells her it is not necessary. Ms. Liu is a compulsive gambler on the cruise ship Neptune, where Mrs. Bud's son, Pit, works, and he recognizes her. Pit has stretched the truth to his girlfriend, Moon Ah Say, about his job, so she thinks he's working in stocks, and she gets quite perturbed when he discovers that he is trying to help Ah Yee, who never wins, and whose grandmother, her only living relative, is dying. This film is based on the real life kidnapping spree of Cheung Tze-Keung who was eventually executed in China December, 1998. Cheung Chi-ho (Simon Yam) makes a living by kidnapping the children of very rich people. However, he's a nice guy outside of 'work', even going so far as to help a little old lady cross the street as the film begins. Cheung Chi-ho is plotting to kidnap several adult sons of Chinese millionaires. Because of their vicious threats, most of these cases go unreported to the cops, and all goes well, until Cheung teams up with another big-time criminal, Cyclone. On their first job, the rich victim calls the police, and Cheung Chi-ho must strategize his next move against the police.

Basically a “life of a club girl/prostitute” movie, it takes great pains to demonstrate the daily grind of these fixtures of HK local culture.

The trickster antics best displayed in Wong Jing’s Tricky Brains are back. Wong is once again responsible, as he casts Chan Bak-Cheung (Ah Leck) as the master of a prankster company who claims he was a student of the original Jing Goo, Stephen Chow. Chan takes in Oh My Gott (Eric Kot), a doofus nice guy who’s down on his luck after being tricked repeatedly by Chan’s rival (Lo Meng). Gott joins Chan’s trick squad, consisting of Dry member Mark Lui, wacky personalities Fast Beat & Slow Beat, and the buxom Sherming Yiu. The team is hired by rich bastard Simon Lui to trick his half-sister, the amazing beautiful Lee Ann. However, she’s a pretty seasoned trickster herself, meaning that our heroes find themselves very busy. Meanwhile, Oh My Gott rediscovers Yandy (Athena Chu), the nurse he loved from afar many moons ago, who’s now working for Lee Ann.
