매일 바쁘기만 한 엄마에게 불만이 많은 엘리자벳, 제레미, 해리 삼남매는 이웃 커버 아줌마에게 들은 새엄마를 얻을 수 있는 주문을 외운다. 그러자 다음날 엄마는 사라지고 엄마에 대한 기억도 말끔히 사라진다. 이들은 마미 마켓에 가서 엄마를 사오기로 결정하는데, 첫 번째 엄마는 화려한 의상을 걸친 부자 엄마지만 그녀는 애완 도마뱀을 보고 놀라 마미 마켓으로 돌아가 버린다. 두 번째는 운동에 능한 엄마를 고르지만 그녀는 자식보다는 운동과 경기에만 집착한다. 그리고 세 번째 엄마까지 실패로 돌아가자 이들은 비로소 진짜 엄마를 되찾고 싶어한다. 그리고 엄마의 기억을 되살리기 위해 지난 추억을 생각해 내자 다음날 엄마는 기억과 함께 다시 돌아온다.
