영미는 자기 집안을 몰락케 한 원수를 갚기 위하여 바로 원수인 구영서를 유혹하고 그와 동거한다. 그리고는 미국에서 귀국하는 그의 아들 상수 마저도 유혹한다. 그러나 상수는 부모들의 원한을 갚기 위하여 그의 양아들이 된 같은 처지의 위인이었다. 오직 복수만을 위해 살아온 그녀는 우선 장애물이라고 생각되는 창수를 강물에 밀어넣어 죽게 한다. 지겹도록 짝사랑하며 접근해 왔기 때문이다. 마침내 영미의 정체를 안 구영서는 스스로 자결하고, 영미는 창수 살해범으로 경찰에 연행되고, 상수 홀로 남아서 영미가 돌아올 날을 기다리마고 다짐한다.

An aged snake turns to a beautiful woman after the devil's order, and tempts a young Buddhist monk. The two marries, and gives birth to a son. The snake tries to kill her husband to obey the devil's order, but she can't because of the love she built with the man. The devil turns the snake into a stone. But with the help of a Buddha, she turns back to a human, living happily after with the monk.
옛날 어느 고을에 콩쥐라는 착한 딸을 가진 선비 최만춘은 상처하여 배씨라는 후처를 맞이한다. 성질이 포악한 배씨는 사사건건 콩쥐를 학대하지만, 천성이 착한 콩쥐는 끝까지 부모에게 효도를 다하고, 신관 사또 김성도와 인연을 맺게 된다.
