삶에서 탈출구를 찾으려는 미아는 혼자서 카니발을 구경하러 간 곳에서 광대가 준 전단지를 보고 서커스를 관람한다. 미아는 그곳에서 공중 곡예사에게 한눈에 반하고, 두 사람의 눈길이 마주쳤을 때 남자는 줄에서 미끄러져 땅으로 추락해 다른 세상으로 들어간다. 자신도 모르게 그를 돕기 위해 일어선 미아는 그와 함께 미지의 세상으로 빨려들어가고 만다. 신비와 환상으로 가득 찬 7개의 세상에서 미아는 공중 곡예사를 찾아 헤매고, 남자도 미아를 찾아 떠돈다.
