뉴욕의 명문 발레 학교에서 떠오르는 스타였던 디디는 극단내에서 만난 동료 댄서와의 관계로 임신을 하고. 결혼한 뒤 학교를 떠나 오클라호마에서 발레 학교를 직접 운영하면서 동시에 세 아이의 엄마로서 소임을 다한다. 반면 디디와 함께 발레 학교의 유망주였던 엠마는 오직 발레에만 전념한 끝에 최고의 프리마돈나 자리를 거머쥔다.춤에 뛰어난 소질을 보이고 있는 디디의 16살 난 딸 에밀리아는 발레 학교로부터 입학 허가를 받지만. 12살 난 아들은 춤과 야구사이에서 아직 결정을 갈등하는 중이다. 결국 디디는 여름 방학동안 아이들을 데리고 뉴욕으로 가 댄스 교습을 받기로 한다. 발레 학교에서 실력을 인정 받아 여름 공연에서 중요한 역을 맡게 된 아멜리아는 러시아에서 건너 온 유명한 발레리나인 유리와 사랑에 빠지지만. 그가 다른 발레리나와 키스하는 장면을 목격한 뒤 상처받는다. 한편 엠마는 자신이 점점 젊은 발레리나들에게 밀리고 있다는 사실 때문에 불안한데다가. 사귀고 있던 유부남이 자신에게 냉담해 진것을 알아차리게 된다.

This documentary follows composer and conductor Igor Stavinsky at his home in California, in London, and in Hamburg where he conducts an orchestra rehearsal. Includes conversations with a variety of friends and musical collaborators. Includes footage of Stravinsky and Balanchine discussing the Variations (in memoriam Aldous Huxley) and rehearsing their ballet Apollo with Suzanne Farrell.
