미국 태생 무술 유단자인 케이시는 일본인 나미코와 결혼해 코가 도장에 터를 잡는다.어느 날 케이시는 쇼핑센터 뒷골목에서 칼을 휘두르는 두 명의 강도에게 기습을 받지만 대수롭지 않게 생각하고 넘긴다. 그 날 밤 케이시는 임신한 아내를 위해 먹을 것을 사러 잠깐 집을 비우는데, 그 사이 아내는 목에 가시 쇠사슬이 감겨 처참하게 살해당한다. 장례식 날 옛 도장의 친구인 나카바라가 찾아와 모든 것을 잊고 태국의 자신의 도장에서 훈련하며 머물기를 제안하지만 케이시는 아내를 죽인 범인을 찾기 위해 가시 쇠사슬 살상 기술을 쓰는 도장을 수소문하며 헤맨다. 결국 지친 케이시는 나카바라의 태국 도장으로 찾아가고 그곳에서 다른 수련생들과 함께 무술 훈련에 정진한다. 그러다 자신을 해치려는 자객의 손에 다른 수련생이 목숨을 잃는 사건이 발생 하자 나카바라는 무거운 입을 열며 놀라운 사연을 털어 놓게 되는데...
