외국인들에게 무자비하게 폭행을 자행하는 파시스트들과 어울리며 의미 없는 시간들을 보내고 있는 훌리안. 하지만 가족을 운운하는 그들과 함께하면서도 마음 한구석 짙은 외로움을 떨쳐내지 못하던 그는 우연히 복싱을 접하게 된 이후, 이전엔 느껴보지 못했던 강렬한 도전 의식에 사로잡힌다. 고된 훈련을 감내해내는 동안 함께 운동하는 동료들과의 관계를 통해 점차 변화하기 시작하는 훌리안. 더욱이 그는 체육관에서 일하는 혼혈인 알리사와 사랑에 빠지면서 급격히 변하기 시작한다. 하지만 이를 곱지 않은 시선으로 바라보던 그의 친구 루이스는 훌리안을 다시 돌려놓기 위해 계획을 짜기 시작한다.

Alphonse is a 70 years old man, born and raised in Benin, left his country and his people with the promise to come back home… But he never did. When Alphonse receives the news that his sister Veronique is ill, it seems to him that time has past too long and that he has to go and see her. Alphonse will have to face the past and the present of his homeland. He will have to talk and explain 40 years of silence, shame and disillusion. To his sister who has been waiting for him, also to his mother, who died without seeing him back. “The door of no return” is a journey from north to south and south to north, from the present to the past, from here to beyond. An adventure back to the starting point.
