교토에 사는 내향적인 중학생 텐도 준은, 뜻밖의 일로 1200년 이전의 헤이안 시대에 타임슬립해 버린다. 거기에는 사람들이 두려워하는 '귀신'이라는 존재가 있었다. 준은 스님인 켄도에 의해 이끌려, 귀신과 싸우는 동안 귀신의 정체를 알게 되고 또한 자신의 출신 경위를 알게 된다. 그리고 진정으로 싸워야 할 상대가 누구인가를 깨달은 준은, 귀신들과 함께 목숨을 건 싸움을 건다.
