Shôtarô Oikawa

The story takes place during a summer of continuous sunshine when water supply restrictions are issued in the city. Shunsaku Iwakiri works for the city's water department and his job is to visit homes and stores that are behind on their bills and either collect the money or shut off the water supply (water suspension enforcement). Shunsaku is separated from his wife and children, and his heart grows thirsty as he spends his days visiting poor households and being abhorred. One day, during a water shutoff, Shunsaku meets two young sisters who have been neglected. He sees them as his own children and offers them a helping hand.

Detective Murakami meets a girl who suffers from memory loss. The girl has special abilities including the ability to talk with the dead. Detective Murakami names her Maki. Detective Murakami and Maki work together to solves a massive murder case involving a mad bomber. Maki's identity is revealed during their investigation.

Shinnosuke and Misawa are joint managers of a Bonsai shop. Suddenly Shinnosuke's childhood friend Haruko turns up. She has split up with her boyfriend and finds herself out on the streets. Seigo Yoshioka (Kenji Sakaguchi) is a teacher that became mute after a kendo accident. He feels lost after the accident and eventually decides to teach again on a small island where his mother was born. The children there on the island quickly name him "Kikansha Sensei" (Teacher Locomotive) after learning he is mute. The parents on the island are mostly hostile to Seigo Yoshioka, believing he is incapable of teaching their children. But with Seigo Yoshioka's determination and kindness, a strong bond develops between the students and the mute teacher, which then changes the parents' opinions of Seigo Yoshioka. Suddenly, tragedy then strikes ...

Despite the fact that Kyoko's a girl herself, approaching women on the streets and asking them to pose nude for her proves to be quite a chore. At first she accosts every pretty girl that walks by, until Miho catches her eye. Feeling that she has that certain something special, Kyoko insists that Miho pose for her. Her own life floating rudderless after the separation of her parents, Miho accepts, half entertaining the idea to get back at her father, who has gone on to form a new family and who hasn't been in touch with her in years. The two girls walk around town, Kyoko snapping pictures and listening to Miho's stories. Gradually the two young women begin to sense a mutual attraction. When the time comes to get down to the nitty gritty of the nude shots, the girls' defences come down along with their clothes.

주인공 미유키가 쓰레기를 뒤지면서 분류하고 있다. 담배꽁초, 담배갑, 캔 등등. 카페에서 일하고 있는 그녀는 같은 아파트에 살고 있는 기타리스트 요시노리를 짝사랑하고 있다. 미유키는 요시노리의 모든 것을 알고자 그가 내다 버린 쓰레기를 저녁마다 뒤지며 요시노리의 사생활을 파악해 간다. 요시노리가 아침에 먹는 음식, 담배 그리고 그 주변의 여자들에 대해서. 그리고 그녀 또한 그와 같은 음식에 같은 담배를 피면서 그 주변의 여자들에게 질투심을 느끼면서 그에게 더 가까워진 듯한 느낌을 가진다. 그런 쓰레기 속에는 마치 자신의 사생활을 알려 주기라도 하듯이 모든 것들이 들어 있다. 쓰레기를 통해 미유키는 요시노리에 대한 상상의 세계를 펼치고 그 상상은 현실로 하나 둘 나타나기 시작한다.
